I don't know that I could!

I have sweaty hands. They used to tell me I had 'rusty hands' at an engineering firm I used to work for, because I'd lay my hands on the bed of a machine tool, come back an hour later and there was a rusty hand print left behind! Something to do with the salt-content in my diet or some ballcocks like that

Defected!
Yours does look worse than mine did though, my steering wheel was only showing the red through in a small area, you could do your gear knob though. Someone on here bought a Cupra R steering wheel brand new and it cost nearly £300. Specialist breakers, perhaps?

I'm nervous about the shoe-polish Daz, I think I'm going to have to consider the refurb now Maz has suggested it :D or a new 225 wheel. Gah, decisions! If only either were available on eBay!
If your like me get it done properly Ant.

The leather refurb specialist will do a really good job that will last. They will also restore the lovely matt feeling to the leather.

My LCR210's steering wheel is looking tatty and faded after 96,000 miles. Is it worth having it refurbed or should I just replace it? Was thinking of getting the 225 wheel instead. Simple things like the red at the top of the wheel do it for me :D

I went to FifeSEAT and got a price of £330 for a new 225 steering wheel. Mine isn't that worn, I'm just an OE freak. The original leather was quite smooth to begin with from what I remember from back in 03 when I bought a new LCR210. I received a quote of £220 + VAT to re-trim the original wheel. The leather may be better quality but I don't want to risk the finish quality so I'll order a new one I think. Car has covered 23k but the previous owner drove with the palm of his hand so its quite smooth now.

And what does the old one look like? Would it be worth switching it with my current one? ;)

We are all saying that it's that price for just the steering wheel, right? No air bag or anything, just a steering wheel?

Checked eBay and they had no official wheels at all, just bog standard old-fashioned style ones with no air bag :( Maybe I'm just useless at searching :D

Did anyone try a cheaper solution ie. shoe polish :s

Also how much would it cost a leather specialist to do my 225 steering wheel + gear knob roughly?

Just got the car and love it!!! Steering wheel + gear knob could do with a "touch up" though.
