Checked it last Sunday, I'd say it was about a 3rd of the way into the hatched zone. Checked it again this Sunday, 400miles ish and it was just under the hatched zone on the kink in the dipstick. I check it once a week.

There was some hard driving involved (just been revo'd) but this seems quite a bit. Maybe I checked it initially on a slight incline.

this probably doesn't make you feal any better but mine doesn't use a drop, its always at the top mark when it comes back from a service and stays that way for the 10k till the next one.

Have yo checked for leaks because that sounds like a fair bit

I'll check.

I'd say it used about 1/2 a litre in ~400 miles. Driven quite hard mind.

I would say that is quite heavy useage, although not drastic. How many miles had the car done?

Some cars are odd. My LCR doesn't seem to use much at all (done 22k), my Dad's Mk V Golf the same until it suddenly gulped a load, then hasn't used any since. Dealer told him that was normal during his running in period.

It was fine previously, didn't use any, just last week. Just had revo done so alot of testing/logging and loads of crawling in traffic jams. Not my usual driving atall, bit of an odd week really.

Just checked it now in works carpark, several hours after driving and it's right at the very top of the hatched area!

Hmm, iffy cambered surfaces me thinks.

I have a oil consumption isue to with my LCR. The milage on mine is high so i thought i would check with Seat to see what they say and was told that its OK for PD engines to use around 1 litre avery 1000miles !

MMMM

Well thats what mine used. But where does it all go, not seeing smoke or is there any oil leaks.

I did nearly 80K from new on my old LCR and never had to top up the oil between the 10K services

Basically what I did was..

Drive, wait 10mins, oil low, topped up, waited a bit, oil showed 1/2 way up hatching

I've now moved the car to a different spot, came back an hour later and it was right at the top of the hatching!!

So either I didn't wait long enough for it to drain back into the sump initially, or the ground wasn't level, or both. Oh well:redface:

Ok, I've been monitoring useage and on average it's moving a couple of mm down the dipstick in about 400miles (high speed motorway).

Is the hatched area 0.5L or 1L min to max?

Based on it being 1L, I estimate it's using ~175ml per 1000km. This is normal right?

Now in Lincolnshire!
Had a problem tonight on the way home, oil light came on! F**K i thought! luckly I was about a mile from J8 on the m20and pulled into the services. Called Seat assist and they had no info I was the owner of the car, number plate not showing up! The dealer had not imformed them I was now the keeper! GREAT!!!!! After a 2 hour wait the AA finaly turned up and checked me over... i was told that even though the car had covered just 4666k yes "666" it might be cos the engine was bedding in!!!! Hummm, there was hardly any oil in it!!!!

Im I a twat for not checking the oil and thinking it will be ok until my 10k service????

My Ibzia Cupra, which I had from new never any probs!
