LCR Clutch Replacement Cost & Garage Nearish Cambridge?

The clutch started slipping on my LCR two weeks ago and needs replacing.

I'm planning on getting rid of it soon so don't want to spend silly money on it. Can anyone recommend anywhere in / near Cambridge / Newmarket to do it?

What am i looking at for getting this done so far I have been quoted about £500 for clutch kit, slave cylinder and fitting and about another £500 if the flywheel needs doing. So potential about £1000 all in. Does this seem to be the going rate?

Cheers

Sounds a bit high. It's about £500 for the clutch and flywheel, plus about 8hrs labour which should be around £300-400ish depending where you go.

Clutch kit and flywheel seems around £300 also from vwspares.co.uk and these are also Sachs/LUK parts. Ive changed one myself and it took me hours so id imagine a well trained mechanic will take 3-5 hours so about £200-300 but get some qoutes, specialists if possible.

Got my clutch changed at Jabbasport on yesterday, not that far away...Got Charged 4 hours labour, 8 is silly!

I went for an uprated Sachs clutch that cost me under £900 fitted. Standard would be cheaper

Thanks - Have dropped Jabbasport an email will see what they suggest.

I've found a couple of Luk / Sachs clutch kits (inc. slave cylinder) and flywheel for about £300 quid which seems reasonable. I'm just struggling to understand how the couple of places I've spoke to want another £700 to fit it....

My understanding is that that doing the flywheel at the same times doesn't add that much work to the job in terms of labour - certainly not the extra £300 that most places seem to want for doing this. Or am I way off?

Cheers

Thats pretty much what i thought, an extra £550 to replace the flywheel seems somewhat excessive...
