Im going to get the AP versions from JABBA as there exact fitment for the LCR and at £540 there not bad. Ive done bugger all miles since the last time ive posted so I don’t need them quite as urgently as i thought

Hi before you buy consider the following:

Galfer do an excellent brake kit for the Cupra R (They manufacture for Brembo and AP Racing)

I came across these on the web and got into contact with a guy called Matthew Stephens who is the MD of TopStar Marketing who are the sales and marketing company for Galfer in the UK and work very closely with Leda (the UK importer for Galfer).

They have a small workshop near Silverstone where they prepare their own rally cars and the main Leda factory is at Braintree in Essex.

The SEAT Leon Cupra R 225BHP (323mm disc) Xtreme Kit is available

Kit includes:

FDR 1065 Brake pads (suit Brembo caliper)
DFX Brake rotors (Grooved) with 7074 alloy bells
Super Dot 4 brake fluid
Carbon noise reduction shims

RRP inc VAT and P&P £716.96

Also rear conversion using the following parts:

They can supply the Xtreme discs as fitted to the front of the Toledo II 1.6i that are the same dimensions as all Leon rear discs and fit an uprated pad material (1045)

The discs will match the appearance of the fronts with a groved rotor and alloy bell. By using the 1045 material the balance of the car will be right for road use. The rear brakes only contribute about 20% of the overall braking on FWD road cars, so this material will provide the best solution to match 1065 on the fronts.

The complete cost for the rear will be £438.25 inluding VAT.

I am going to buy the front kit from these guys to begin with at the next service as my fronts have taken a hammering.

Try the following links:

www.topstarmarketing.co.uk

www.galfer.co.uk

Give Matt a call a very helpful guy.

Ive been on the phone to LEDA a fair bit and they still have to get back to me with a kit for the LCR as Galfer were takeing there time. I was talking to Beverley miles.

So your saying they can now get them? Price seems allot considering the APS are only £500 ish. The galfa ones were supposed to be cheaper?

Might be worth seeing if Quattroman has any discs left lying in his garage from the huge groupbuy he did last year as well.

Well 700 verses £500 i think i will go for the AP as galfer have mucked about for too long, but thatnks for the info

No probs on the info and Galfer definately do a kit for the LCR as Matt can get them within 2 weeks of ordering. I know it is expensive you do get the fluid and pads included and if you ask you might even get more off the price......it never hurts to ask.

The AP discs are still the dogs:D

I'm still not sure on what type to buy....I still have 4 months till the next service so I have time to think about it.......

Cheers

Hi I have not bought anything from Matt yet but the info provided and the prompt responses he has given me normally in my eyes from previous experience shows that someone is reliable:thumbup:

His name is Matthew Stephens and the number is

Mobile: 08707776789
Office: 01865 711712

Give him a shout as he will be more than happy to help, I mentioned that I put a posting on this forum explaining about the Xtreme Kit.

FDR 1065 Brake pads (suit Brembo caliper)
DFX Brake rotors (Grooved) with 7074 alloy bells
Super Dot 4 brake fluid
Carbon noise reduction shims

Cheers

Hi

How much do you want for the Extreme Kit??

Does it include the following:

FDR 1065 Brake pads (suit Brembo caliper)
DFX Brake rotors (Grooved) with 7074 alloy bells
Super Dot 4 brake fluid
Carbon noise reduction shims

Cheers

If any body wants more feedback on the 1065s as in the above thread then read 'Yummans' report on them after he fitted them.
In regards to Galfer products,I can confirm that Mathew Stephens is associated with Leda Suspension and is now marketing the Galfer product for them, albeit with a massive price hike.
I was told that his delivery time was depending on how much was ordered as it costs more to ship in small amounts from Spain.
This stratergy will not work in my opinion, as you need to keep stocks in the UK for when people need it.
As for the LCR 'standard' and 'Tuning 'Discs -we have all been promised much from them but they have failed to produce the goods, and I am very sorry to let anyone down who was interested in these.
It appears that Galfer do not want to support the UK market as well as it could.
If they allowed more distibutors in the UK - as they have done with their motorcycle brakes, then there would be more stock available instantly.

How much do you want to pay !!
It also pays to do a search on things like 'Galfer group buy'
I will send you info by e-mail or pm if you could pm me your details as I dont want to offend any one with my cheap prices as they might not like me selling the 'Galfer group buy' products cheaper than their list prices.

Sorry Si but due to the lack of response I got from Leda / Matt Stephens regarding these discs I have Given Up asking.
They are listed on the the Galfer Spain site in the online catalogue but Leda said that it was not true that they were available......who do you believe.
Try contacting Spain direct and they just say we have a ditributor in the Uk.
What more can you do.???
Send them an e-mail saying you want 25 sets and I will help fund it ..but I think I know what the reply will be....

Just been looking at the Spanish Galfer site and there is a new product out
The 'Evo R range' and a bit on Galfer supplying the latest 2006 Seat Copa race series
as official sponsor.
Nice picture there as well of new Leon dressed as Safety Car

The brakes look the nuts.....a little on the expensive side!!!:wtf:

The cars look great....I'm off to the first round of the BTCC at Brands in April and will see the new BTCC Seat Leon at work and the Mk1 Leon in the Seat Cupra Championship.........they won't be as fast as the Seat Copa though:funk:
