Just had a quote from Jabba for £549 for a 2 piece set up on the LCR (323mm) and seeing as there are very few options for uprated disks in this size I wondered what people thought . Now ive never run AP disks before and wondered peoples opinions on the stopping power and life span. Now I know this all depends on how you drive the car etc but you can kind of generalise the makes of certain things. So away you go!

Well the cost is one thing, as the replacement rotors are the same price (ish) as LCR disks from a dealer and they supposedly have a longer life span. But the main two reasons are they work better (having groves and being a different compound) and look far better.

That being the case, then I would probably buy them.
Are they floating or not? The stoptech kit uses floating discs, but due to gunk getting into the floating mechanism, and the discs warping, I had to change them to just a 2-piece type.

why dont you buy 2 standard LCR discs and send them to hi spec motorsport to be grooved £22 a disc and just use ferrodo ds2500 pads with them, thats what i have done saved myself about £250

That is all down to the driver and the road been driven on.

I wouldn't go back from my 2 piece AP's as i always go hard into bends and i don't have much choice on roads as they are all twisty round me.(nearest dual carriageway is over 20miles away) so i treat every corner like it was beckets or the carousel.

Done about 9k since fitting with ds2500's and i'm only just starting to get a slight lip. I doubt standard disc's would take the abuse so well

the difference is weight and one of cooling.
a proper rotor on a 2-piece setup will have better cooling (ducted fan type venting) so run cooler.

Weight of disks on an LCR is the least of your concerns.
Heat dissipation may however be more significant.

If you have'nt boiled your existing setup or warped them to oblivion, then chances are you dont "need" them... but I know myself... we buy things we dont need, cos we want them :)

Well im finding the stock LCR disks and ferrado pads are still fading a bit and are not giving me 100% confidence in stopping after a long journey (Portsmouth to London and back again). I only really drive the car for long journeys and there far better than stock but still not what I would call 100%. I need new disks and im looking to get some better performance without sacrificing my wheels by using the carbon metallic. 2 piece AP disks seem the only real option as im sure it’s the system getting too hot. When I replace the disks and pads I will be getting some braided lines and new fluid as a matter of course

fading DS2500's.... What fluid?

Badger Wagen only just faded them running on slicks @ Anglesey.,..

so your fluid is old & water logged?

driving on the m-way shouldn't overheat brakes unless they're making contact

No i hate motor way journeys so i go around town etc and through the back raods.

Its the origianl and has only done 17k so shouldnt be fooked already?

Stock, its all stock bar the pads, which is why i thought it was the disk rather than pad?

fluid? you say fade... what is the pedal doing when you think its fading?

Try decent fluid first.... like.........wait for it................. Motul RBF600 ;)

as used to good effect by the badger wagon

Pedal seems fine it just doesnt stop as quick and gets a tiny bit worse the longer you hold it. Ive just had new tyres put on so its deffinatly because theres no grip

Hi Scotty_b, what do you do in the end? Did you go the AP route?

I will be needing new disc soon (after Brands hatch lol). I have searched all over the web and can't find any other LCR fittments.

I want some that look nicer and are more efficient!

Im going to get the AP versions from JABBA as there exact fitment for the LCR and at £540 there not bad. Ive done bugger all miles since the last time ive posted so I don’t need them quite as urgently as i thought
