Hi all,
This is my first post on here and it feels a bit like starting a new school!!!!
Anyway the wife is expecting our first baby in the summer and i am needing a car with ideally five doors but still a bit of poke for upto aound £11,000 and the LCR seems to fit the bill, Question is is it worth paying the extra for a 225? and on the road is there much performance difference???

Cheers Chris:)

Well looking at the performance figures there is a 0.3 of a seconds difference. and 10nm to 20nm torque difference. I'd rather pay out and get the higher spec.

Dont think there is a 0.3s difference.

The 0-60 time should read 6.6-6.7 secs but is often quoted in magazines as 6.9. (6.9 is 0-62mph)

You will also generally find the 210 is overpowered and the 225 is underpowered bringing the 12bhp difference even closer together! (210bhp vs 222bhp) Torque is 199lbft vs 208lbft.

Pay £500 for a remap which im 99.99% you probably will and both cars map to exactly the same level!

Up to you but the only main difference really is the steering wheel! Trillions of threads about this!

Yea fair enough however there is a 0.3 of a second deference. I checked the official specs for both. If the specs are inacurate its still relative between the two models.

If your worried about the 0-60 buy the 225.

Wont be any difference on the road though, nor will their be any difference when chipped!

Higher gains are available for the 210 version car when chipping!

Who on this earth is going to notice a 0.3 second improvement on a 0-60, particaularly with a small child in the car???!!!

0-60 is a totally irrelevant time anyway unless you have some sort of psychological(sp?) problems and actually drive like that.

Basically what we're trying to say here is that there are no mechanical differences (aside from any slight model year variations) between the two power output models, only difference is from the fuel and ignition mapping, and for the sake of a few hundred quid you may as well have the car re-mapped and make the best of that engine, whichever one you go for.
225 has a nicer steering wheel but you can retro fit this for a few hundred quid also. 210 probably will have the squarer wing mirrors which mean you can actually see what's in the other lane.

Opps! Just did a search on this and realised it is a very common question, Thanks for the replies. Think i will go or a 210 and save some dosh for a re-map (or Pampers!!!!)

Think you should have missed out the wing mirrors:cry: How many times has this been discussed:rolleyes:

They were not a 225 upgrade
