And in answer.....
Having had a 2.2 Prelude, and an LCR.

Handling: Prelude.
Raw Power: LCR, so maybe a dead heat with a just about standard LC?
Brakes: LCR just, so LC - dead heat I'd guess.

lots of understeering on a roundabout in the wet, sounds a little dangerous on a public road to me. if you're that close to loosing control on a main road then it is a little silly. What would have happened if a car pulled out infront? theres no way you could do anything as the car is already on the edge.

Glad someone found it funny, i do stick them in on purpose to lighten the mood.

Its not about being hard on any single person, its just putting across it isn't acceptable on here. You can do what your like, im not your dad or the police, but don't bring the bragging rights to this forum, because its not wanted.

I think thats a fair enough comment to make, if i delete it then no-one learns from it. ;)

VTEC and VVTi are two different things. Toyotas answer to VTEC is VVTLi.

VVTi varies the valve timing depending on load and throttle position.

VVTLi and VTEC have two separate cam profiles that are switched at a specific point in the rev range. Below that point you have normal 'every day' cams in action, but when you hit a certain point it suddenly changes cam's and you start using a 'high lift' and aggressive cam instead.

It's far from ****. I mean, Toyota managed to get 190bhp from a 1.8 engine. VAG 1.8T's are 225 with a turbo! Granted the 1.8T's have an incredible amount more torque (Toyota VVTLi engine has around 125lb/ft) but still, getting that much from a N/A engine is far from ****.

when i say its **** i mean its not as good as everyone makes out.

Everyone raves on about vtec zone, vtec kick this vtec kick that, there isnt any kick, it just allows the power band to continue into 8k revs, if there was a kick there would be a spike in the torque curve, which there isnt.

yes its VVTLi and still you dont see anyone raving about it, vvti was designed by a honda for toyota anyway.

I'm not disagreeing with what you're saying, as I think VTEC is over hyped by marketing and mass-hysteria on the internet.

However if you drive a VTEC Honda from a couple of years ago you got a very distinct change when VTEC 'kicks in', but if you drive a VTEC Honda from the past couple of years, this isn't the case. The power is now much more progressive, which has actually upset some Honda fanboys who loved the shove you got. Honda have made it smoother with a less obvious change point, which has taken away some of the drama.

Toyotas VVTL-i is similar to the older, more aggressive VTEC, as you get a definite extra shove when you hit 'lift' as it's known.

Whether or not this is shown on a dyno plot or not, I don't know.

LC V's Honda Vtec

Ok, moralising apart.... jeez life is sooo complicated in these days of over protected society... :banned:

Any hoo,

Having in the past had both a 1994 JDM (198bhp) & 1998 UK spec (185bhp) Prelude vtec's and now an LC (180bhp) I can say without fail the JDM spec 'Lude' felt seat of the pants faster 0-100mph than the UK spec 'Lude' and even possibly faster than my current Leon Cupra, but looking at the speedo along the same stretch of road the LC is quicker point to point I feel, so unless the Honda was seriously tuned you should have kicked arse methinks....

But in truth the JDM spec vtec and LC are fairly evenly matched in standard tune the only difference i've noticed is the rev's tend to run out quicker on the LC than the Vtec, but then thats the same in comparison to the JDM V's the UK spec Prelude vtec.

Well thats got that sorted then.....

from an old 'EX' street racer..... :censored:

If you want 'Real' power get yourself a fast bike, I have and there ain't nowt to touch it.

Honda Prelude 2.2vtec, 0-60 7.40s, 60-100 12.39s, 0-100 19.79s

Leon Cupra 210bhp 0-60 6.94s, 60-100 10.91, 0-100 17.85s.

Fairly even but the Cupra would take it, get a remap and you would spank it comfortably.

Anyway stop driving so fast on public roads get you and your mate on a track if it means that much to your ego to beat him.

going back to the pod point and insurance, I think the "no racing" clause in your insurance means that you are not covered if you are at the pod when you have an accident. It doesn't matter a damn what you do with your time when you are "uninsured" at the pod, when you are back on the road and have a smash it does not invalidate your insurance. Its like saying, because you went sky diving once your life insurance won't pay out when you ticker goes pop down at the local greezy spoon.

I fully accept that I'm uninsured at Santa Pod. My crash, my cash.

Far play to Z, agree with the warning. We all have a go, but its best to keep quiet about it these days unless you are in the pub on a meet!

It's definately one for the pub...

I know for a fact (having a brother who used to work in Insurance) that they have been known to check OC forums in certain cases.

Don't say I didn't tell ya!
