Take it back to the guys who fixed it, perhaps they've not done the job right. I'd also be tempted to take the map off too if you've thought it's not quite right - it could be doing more harm than good.

I've spoke to the guy about it and he asked that I try and rule out all options before bringing it back to him, he's a friend so I can't exactly start an argument lol. Im jacking up and climbing under etc this morning to see there's nothing obvious going on

Been under the car, found a random cable snapped, and a very very oily pipe coming from the turbo, disconnected the pipe cleaned it up and put it back together again but I've not had a chance to drive it yet, I'll see how it goes tonight

Nope I've been told by everyone not to because of how much I've spent on it already lol. Once it's going again I'll no doubt be back in love! I'm pretty pissed about it all but I'm more gutted that I spent so much getting it fixed for the mechanic to just cause a whole new problem!

No offence, but does the mechanic know what he's doing? Was it defo the cam that needed replaced and not something else which is causing it to run bad just now?

He knows his stuff but I think he was in a hurry to get everything back together, it was definitely the camshaft and he screwed up the timing when putting the cam belt back on I believe. Every other time I've used him he has been spot on so fingers crossed he deals with this swiftly and smoothly tomorrow and we can just get on with things lol

Sounds like most mechanics, rushing and being careless (in my experience anyway). Hopefully it'll be an easy fix for you :)

Fingers crossed the mechanic gets it right this time, at the end of the day things go wrong from time to time, even the most well engineered "items" whether it be cars, boats, aeroplanes etc go wrong occasionally. One breakdown doesn't always mean it's the start of many.

You going to get the rear bumper resprayed at some point Lawrie? Can't believe whoever the previous owner was let them get away with the finish being so dull!

Heard back from the mechanic, he says the timing was spot on, plenty of clearance round the camshaft etc so we're now think its the lift pump or tandem pump, if not that then he'll do a compression test to check everything's all good in the cylinders. Fed up and feeling like pushing the car down a big hill into a quarry!!

I was feeling the same the other week when my brakes were binding, just waiting for it to happen again, not good
