lack of boost

hi recently purchased a leon cupra 2000 reg. quite a long drive home in it, lovely to drive but seemed to be lacking boost, it'd boost up to about 3500-4000rpm but would then almost stutter, i'd noticed that the pipe from the airbox to the secondary air pump had been capped of at some point when i looked under the bonnet. the car also seemed to be running at quite a low temperature?? i have now rejoined the pipe but to no joy in fact it seems to be boosting less..... was driving in 6th gear today and it boosts a little and just stutters??? any ideas be welcomed.

Yup it's adiagnostic package that the garages use, you can buy, download, etc need to buy the correct lead for the version you pick up.
Or maybe a friend has a copy.
Use the search engine mate you'll find lots of info on this forum re. vag.com and tons of other stuff.

I had similar on mine last year. The dealer struggled to diagnose, but a friend with vag.com helped isolate it to both the EGR valve and MAF (Exhaust Gas Recirculation valve and Mass air flow sensor). Neither were expensive to fix.

thanks for the replys, it went in to my local garage today on their fault diagnostic software, and no joy.... no fault codes what so ever.... apperently everything was fine! i'm now extremely puzzled as he says the temperature could well be due to the cold weather which i know through experiance with volkswagens etc. generally sit on 90 quite happilly. so running at 65-75 not right. also today it seemed to boost alot better through 2nd an 3rd but then spluttered through 4th??? tempremental but no fault codes....

Could possibly be but with no codes showing up I would be tempted to check all the piping first before spending on coil packs an plugs but fair point.

I don't think coilpacks and plugs bring up any codes?

I see what you mean tho, best to check simple things first :)

cheers for all the feedback.... i did speak to my pal and apparently coilpacks do show up a fault, def gonna check all pipe work... is such a strange problem though really pulling my hair out now, was driving again today and it seems to be most noticable in 4th gear. will keep you updated, cheers, and happy new year
