Knocking noise from H&R springs

Going to check it out myself, but I've recently fitted the H&R lowering springs to my boc and today i noticed some knocking from one of the wheels when driving at speeds of 30 or less :(

can't pinpoint which wheel it is coming from but i'm pretty sure its one of the rears!

any idea what the problem could be? seems to disappear when i speed up...which has made me think that it could be something as simple as me not having tightened the wheel bolts on enough, or the the shock absorber bolt.

I had this at one point after putting my coil overs on. Its hard to explain but it was was on the left rear and it was where the shock went in to the hub at the top. A nut had come loose and made the shock move about a bit. Could be a differentprproblem with you but thats what I had . Hope thats helps crap explanation I know lol.

funnily enough i think its my left rear.

i haven't changed the shocks so dunno if it would be that, reckon it could be where the shock connects to the chassis though, think the bolt might need tightening.

haha i know its quite hard to explain! cheers for the help though!

it's going in to get a new exhaust tomorrow anyway so i'll ask the guys there to look for anything obvious while its on the ramp

such a moron. nuts were finger tight on the rear left wheel...actually lost one...my head must've been up my arse when i was retightening them...so angry with myself! highly dangerous obviously. now missing a cap and a bolt :(

Atleast you realised mate, lucky escape there.

On the plus side it was nothing to do with the H&R springs lol.... Ive just ordered mine.
How are you finding the springs ?

i know, thank christ! i'm glad it had nothing to do with the springs and was just my own stupidity :)

they're brilliant to be honest, i genuinely can't say i think that the ride comfort is any different to standard, and the car sits so much better. they drop the car a really practical height, still easy to get over any speed bumps.

Nice car mate, looks awesome on the new springs and like you said its a really nice drop without it being unpractical. Every pic Ive seen of cars on these springs looks brilliant and Ive heard nothing but good comments even on other car forums when I googled them for reviews. I went on one forum when I googled them and some guy who put them on a 335i coupe was bigging them up.

cheers! yeah they are really high quality, even the mechanic at my uncles garage (where i fitted them) commented on how good they looked. really cheap just now as well from euro car parts. well worth it in my opinion.

Hi, your car looks awesome. Looking to get myself some 'H&R Springs' how do you find out which you need as there are two types. One is for a front axel weight <860kg and the other 860kg>.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the quick response, yes mine is a 1.4 Sport. Will double check the manual, but I assumed mine wouldn't need the heavy weight springs.

There is a diffrrence in ride feel on the H&Rs over standard. Believe me, the rear of the car is very harsh over any thing with a bump in the road. There is no way they are as smooth over bumpy roads / speed bumps than oem. That said, I wouldnt change them back to oem; much prefer the car with the springs.

Agree entirely, it's a very stiff ride with the H&R'S, I get a lot of complaints off my passengers lol. Even going over a reasonably small pothole can cause quite a judder. Recently I've been thinking about selling them and going for a set of coilovers as I would like the car to be more comfortable, but as you say it does sit much better with the springs on. Does anyone know of any uprated shock absorbers?

Guys I had the H&R 25mmF/40mmR kit and I just couldn't live with it anymore. I've been considering changing to a more expensive set up for almost a year now but I didn't want to spend the money.

Last week I fitted the Eibach pro spring kit. Car now lowered 25mm all round and it has transformed the car. Honestly didn't think it would make much of a drastic difference but now the handling is superb and actually had a mate comment the other day on the ride even though he is not interested in cars and wasn't aware I had changed anything!

Very, very impressed with how the cars dynamics have improved.

Your car looks spot on with the H&R kit though mate and it was a tough call for me to sacrifice how it looked before the Eibachs. If your after the perfect ride height than the H&R kit is the way to go.

I'm going to take some photos soon and upload a comparison.

Has anyone got the Apex lowering springs?

I am really not sure which kit to go for now after reading this.... I want the car as low as possible without struggling over speed bumps, but want the ride fairly comfortable!!

Are coil overs more comfortable?!
