Knocking From Dash

Hi,

Everytime I drive down a rough road or over speed ramps I get loads on annoying knocking like noises from the dash area. Not sure what they are but it tends to be worse the colder the weather.

Anyone got any ideas??

Are you sure it's not from the suspension?

It might be a worn bushing.

I found that the heater vent ducting rattled a lot on mine until I fitted the chrome rings and paddid the ducting

it was bad when the car was cold in the morning and went when the heater warmed up

How do u get to the ducting to stop that rattling then

well the faverite is the ducting that goes across the top of the speedo and clockset to the right hand vent as it is very tight in there

if you remove the cover for the fuse box (the bit that is exposed when drivers door is open) you can see the ducting and then stuff some foam in between the gaps

i have rattling from the dashboard where the windshield air vents are. in warm weather there is no rattling but when its cold and especially when its hot and i use the air conditioner the rattling gets really annoying. in cold weather i get patient and wait for the car to heat up and the rattling to stop. in the summer i turn of the air conditioner and open the windows or turn the music louder...

I see it. Will have a look later. Can you get the panel on the passenger side off too. If so how does that come off.

yes the passenger side one pops off in the same way too

Found out the cause.

It is the vent that puts air on the windscreen ratling. Does anyone know of a way I can cure this.

get access to it and pad it with a bit of foam

it is getting access that is the problem. Does the grill for the windscreen demister just pull out?

not sure if it may be fixed in with torx screws mate, if it is shouldnt be too hard to find them.

It looks like you can just pull it out but im not sure and I don't wanna break it.

dont brerak it! as dash out job is a fun job if its not the ducting hoses to each airvent causing the rattle then if the beezer is the same as most new cars they have heater matrix for the airconditioning and fans these can be rattling about!

I can reproduce the knocking noise by wiggling the windscreen vents around but I would need to remove them on order to put some foam or tape in there to stop it.

Sorry for bringing up an old thread, but has anyone found a solution for curing the windscreen vents rattle?

Is it a whole dash out job to remove those vents?

im in the same boat, im gonna try squeezing small pieces of cardboard down the edges and make sure they are pushed far enough in to hide them.
