Ok now i work for Portsmouth Audi and i know things go wrong, but i had a cambelt fitted in January by Kings Seat, about 4 weeks ago i was at the JKM rolling road day. Whilst i was there one of the staff said that my cam belt was to tight and to get it looked at, and as you probably guessed i went straight to Seat. They took my car in on a Saturday, and were initially very good, on Monday i get a call saying that my car is all done, and the cambelt was to tight but they have slackened it, so it was all fixed. Or so i thought, my mum went to get the car and when she got there she was told it needed a new cambelt, and was spoken to very rudely to by Nadine, they also said thet they are the "professionals and that they would not fit a cambelt as badly as mine" but the receipt was in the car and also the service book was stamped by them saying that they did do it. So she took the car and told me, needless to say i was straight on the phone. I was then told it needed a Tensioner not a cambelt as i started to argue that they had only fitted the damn thing in January.

I then got abit pissed, and said is my car safe to drive, as i dont want to drive down the road and it to snap. The reply was yes, so i said could i have it in writing, to which she replied no, and i asked why and she replied because it is not safe. what the hell? lol She then just put me on hold while i was in the middle of a sentence, then next thing i get the SALES, not after sales but SALES manager who was next to no use, but im not surprised, it isnt her dept.

She then put me on the phone with the Technician who worked on the car. i asked him what was wrong with the tensioner the exact reply i got back was " its gone", gone where for crying out loud?? he couldnt tell me what had failed or why it had failed.

So im sure you can gather that by this time i was getting rather narked at them, so i asked to speak to the aftersales manager, who was on holiday.

So the group Dealer Principle, Kevin Fisher, was given my number and asked to call me back.He called me within an hour and appologised to me about my mum being spoken to so badly and also for the whole situation and in the end agreed to fit a new cam belt free of charge and that i had to just pay for the tensioner.

Now i still dont think that i should have had to pay anything but that was about as good as i was going to get.

Anyway my advise to anybody thinking of going to Kings Seat in Portsmouth is DONT!

I had a qoute for service and cam belt from Kings they said £519, i have asked JKM for a qoute as well but after reading this my mind is made up JKM will get my business.
My bosses tensioner went on his Passat and that was quite new so i know these things can happen but it sounds like if yours had failed big style Kings would have made you pay for the repair and rebuild of your engine, The dealers need to get there act together especially now where you can get a service done anywhere and as long as genuine parts are fitted warrantys have to be honoured.

My wife has just told me when she rang for the price she asked for a service and cam belt on a Leon Cupra R he then asked " is that a 2ltr" she replied no its a 1.8 20v Turbo, where do they get these people from.

I'm at the end of my tether with Kings (Portsmouth & N.Baddesley)...
Had the car from new, it's 2 1/2 yrs old now, bought from Kings Portsmouth.

First issue was there was a power steering fluid leak...Kings in Portsmouth sorted it but failed to properly replace the plastic cover in the engine bay, something I only noticed about a week later. It was hanging down caught on some wires/cables etc. I called and told them that they'd obviously not replaced the plastic screws, I offered them a part no. for the cover just in case they needed it and was told 'no, we have the screws'. So I take the car in (travelling from Winchester to Portsmouth first thing in the morning required a small amount of understanding from my boss) for them to simply pop the screws in and give me the car back, heck, they could have done it in the car park...but nooooo. 40 mins later I'm told they don't have the screws and would have to order them. One morning wasted for me.

I receive a call a couple of days later with the news that they have the plastic screws and would do it first thing so I could get in and out....40 minutes later again and my car is finally done. There was no response to my complaints over the following week so I vowed never to go there again.

Time comes round for my car to be serviced and vividly remembering the sheer incompetence with Kings Portsmouth I booked it in with my local SEAT dealer, Kings in North Baddesley... I pick up the car with some substance dripped onto one of the wheels, thinking it'd wash off I took it home, tried to wash it off and it won't budge...I try tar remover, solvent degreaser and T-Cut...nothing is shifting it. After taking the car back a few times they concede and offer to get the wheel refurbed, which was done by a 3rd party wheel guy who did a great job.

Now, most recently, just had another service done...it was done last week and since I'm not working at the moment I haven't had to drive anywhere. Nice day today so I go out to wash the car...get to the wheels and the plastic caps are missing off one of the wheels. Can these people not do anything as simple as replacing what was taken off?!?!

I know I should have paid more attention when I picked up the car, I did check it over but was more intent on looking for damage and must have missed the plastic caps for the wheel nuts.

They make me sick with their total :censored: incompetence. It's not difficult to provide a good level of service, but they just don't :censored: care.

Oh, and another time I popped in to pick up some oil, was asked what car it was for and replied with 'Leon Cupra R'...'Is that a diesel?' was the service chaps reply. Says it all really.

My car came from Kings Seat in Portsmouth. It was provided by them to Masterlease which is where my work got it from as a lease car.

When I got the 'new' car it had 140 miles on the clock after the 20 mile journey from the dealers. I thought they would deliver it by trailer to my work, but no. They told me to drive it hard straight away as Seats are run in at the factory  (I didnt think this was the case).

It also had some scratches on the plastic of the speedo where they had used a pan scourer to clean it by looks of it.

Anyway I have had no other problems with it in the 7 months I have had it so should probably be grateful. I can say that without tempting fate as its going back to lease car company in a couple of weeks anyway :(

Hmmm, I'm seeing a bit of a trend here!

I live in Havant near Portsmouth so closest dealer to home would be Kings Portsmouth, also work in Chandlers Ford so closest dealer to work would be Kings in North Baddesley, but I won't take my car to them!

Kings Portsmouth had it in urgently one Saturday as one of the warning lights was flashing, turns out a brake light bulb had blown and was causing a short circuit meaning whne my lights were on, my brake lights were permenantly on too. Had to take it back a second time as when they 'fixed' it, they didn't actually look to see what the problem was, they just assumed they knew and fixed that, which turned out to be wrong. Another trip and a pulling over by the police because of the brake lights on, and the car was fixed. But I refused to pay for the second repair and told them they should have done it properly first time round.

Also, popped into Kings in North Baddesley one lunchtime to get a quote on a service, and the guy I spoke to looked me up and down and said, "Well, I don't suppose you know the bhp of the car do you". I thought his attitude stank, just cos I'm a girl does NOT mean I know nothing about cars! So that's why I won't go there, and after reading the above, I think I made the right decision!

I always take the car to Meadens in Sway. The people there are very nice, always explainn what they're doing and breakdown the charges for you etc etc. It's also a blooming nice drive accross the new forest in the morning when I go to drop it off!

Interesting I thought said "customer" worked in the motor trade. I think the point here is about both manners and a willingness to take responsibility for one's actions. Something we are short on in the world of today.

i think if you work for kings seat you need to improve your attitude. the amount of times i have been in ther and told a load of crap. also every time i want a part, they ask me for my ruddy vin number!

i think the only good part of kings portsmouth is your 10% SCN discount on parts.

i went in there to order some parts the other day and they had lost them somewhere in the dealership..
ordered top bolts for the turbo housing and after 8 parts had been ordered they still could not get the right bits in.
and as for the discount they dont know about it as have mentioned it to them before but dont get anything. have to say do most little bits now myself and will take the car to amd for all the servicing and as for parts anyone living near portsmouth use TIMS VW near paulsgrove where german and sweedish used to be. gets parts normally next day always the right bits and is cheaper

Oh don't you just love it when a Dealer reads your problems, then signs up as a newbie to our site and starts to give us grief for just expressing our opinions!

For the records, i work for Harwoods, and had the car looked at by Pulbrough Land Rover (who we own), Portsmouth Audi (who we own) and also JKM (an independent VAG Specialist), all of which told me that the cam belt was to tight, which Kings Seat fitted incorrectly.

Also i think that our master technicians know their way around my vehicle as Portsmouth Audi is after all part of the VAG group, and JKM are independent VAG specialists.

So in short, kpiscesman, the general consensus of the SeatCupra.net users on here seems to be the same as my feeling toward your dealership, and we do not appreciate people like you signing up just so you can give your customers abuse and insult my intelegance, i.e. i know my car, and so do my master technicians.

I would expect more from you seeing as you are the Dealer Principal after all, you could have contacted me via mail, telephone or even e-mail, but you decided to take a shot below the belt.

Well i hope an administrator reads this and kicks you off the site! :ban:

nicely said chris.

i some how dont want this guy to be kicked off the forum though and i deffinatly want his post to be kept here. i also hope he can also try and reply to what we have said as it will be interesting on his point of view.

i remeber when i went in there to ask if it was possible to do my own electric wing mirrors. they told me it would cost huge amounts and that i needed a new main control unit on the car.

a few weeks later i had the wingmirrors up and running perfectly with a litle bit of techinical knowhow and a lot of time :D
