Keys

Hi all,
I am a newbie here so please be kind. I have searched the other posts but can't find my answer, so here goes.

I have the 2.0FSi and yesterday lost my keys in the house when I needed to leave pronto. So, I got the spare key out which is not the flippy kind. Just a normal one. The damn thing wouldn't even open the door! Any ideas?

Ta, in advance.

"not the flippy kind" means "no remote" as well, I assume.
So you tried to unlock the car by using the door lock and didn't succeed?

Either the key itself is not the one belonging to your car
or the door's ECU isn't working properly any more.

Did you retrieve your remote flip-key yet?
Did you meanwhile manage to open the car?

(Re-)synchronisation of keys can be performed with remote controlled keys .... but afaik not with the non-remote.

Get a diagnostic check at your dealer's to find out if there are malfunctions recorded for the door's ECUs.

greets ... Klaus

Thanks for the reply. I did try to open the door by putting the key in the door but there was no joy. My 2 year old daughter found my keys in the end! I hugged her within an inch of her life for it.

My car is constantly at the garage at the mo for problems with a leaking radiator and possibly needing a new head gasket! I have only had the thing since June and am starting to regret it. Thank goodness I took an additional warranty with the car (54 plate).

Thanks again and I will put it on my list to sort. Is there any way of getting a new remote flippy key without it costing the earth?
