Key fob for leon cupra R

The metal housing for my car key has broken on one end, which means that i can no longer attach it to my other keys. Ive been to see my local Seat dealer but they quoted me around £165 for a replacement plus reprogramming!

I have tried using glue but it only held for a few days and as the two joining bits are not metal i cant solder them.

Has anyone got any ideas to sort it or details of a place where i can find a new key fob and get the re-programming done at a decent price?

Cheers

For that kind of price I would be inclined to fix it. There a two methods I would use.

Firstly machine a new metal part. You will need access to milling equipment. I have fixed loads of misc items in this way.

Secondly by bonding it back together. i would recommend a 2 pac adhesive called Dev-con. This stuff is unbelievable and would be at least as strong as the broken piece.
The problem you may have is that you may need to make a 'nest' to sit the broken parts into while the adhesive is curing.

Put some pictures up of the broken part and I will be able to offer you some better advise.

My last car's controller's rubber buttons wore through and exposed the PCB and it stopped working. Instead of paying out £80 I made a mould tool at work and moulded some new ones in silicone. Worked a treat and is so satisfying knowing you have saved.
