i would of thought they were both the same ecu but with a different map from the factory , whats the difference between a cupra and cupra r ecu , apart from the obvious 30bhp more
I would of thought it was best to keep your R ecu then get i mapped to suit the KO4, now you have a R with a normal cupra ECU so you can't put it back to standard. I don't like the sound of just swapping ECU's myself.
to begin with yes, it will be mapped different out of the factory to produce more power, once the standard map is erased though and a different map applied it doesnt matter from then, as its a different map, if that makes sense
both a cupra and a cupra R map the same by a mapper - same hardware, just different software
i wouldnt rule it out, afterall, the ecu's have different codes at the end
This may just be used by the factory to determine different ecu's for the different cars easily without plugging them in, but i would have though as long as both engine codes were the same it wouldnt matter
