Hi guys and gals,
Sorry I haven't posted for ages but can anybody help me with the starter motor on my 1997 1.4 SE?
After having my brakes replaced just the other week, the starter motor is now slowly and painfully passing away. Took me an hour to get it started outside my mates yesterday, just made that horrible whirring noise which he thought was hilarious as you can imagine![[:@]](/forums/styles/seatcupra/oldforumsmileys/furious.gif "Furious [:@]")

Anyhows rang the stealer this morning and was quoted 146 quid for a new and 129 for a reconditioned starter motor. I have a mate who works for an automotive parts company who might be able to get me one at a discounted price but wont' see him till Wed

The missus' dad recommended goin to scrappy and try pick one up dirt cheap for around maybe 40 quid. Does that sound about right to you? Im a bit dubious over whether I'll know what Im getting and have to replace it in the near future.
Any Ideas ???
