just got rid of my fr tdi after about 6 months of problems including
4 turbo solenoids
airbag light came on while driving twice
faulty dpf sensors causing car to go into limp mode while on motorway on two occasions
dealer left can of copper grease wedged in engine bay
abs and brake warning lights also came on regularly
oh yes and the car had a cracked sump apparently manufacturing fault
customer service couldnt or wouldnt help and dealer didnt want it back so traded it and got offered between 10500 and 11750 for it with 26k on it and on an august 06 plate!
i liked the car but just couldnt live with it being in the garage all the time
so bought a new mondeo titanium x which is bloody brilliant not much slower and a much better drive

Yeah sounds like you had a pretty rough deal with that Lemon Leon... but I second the comment about Ford. My last car was a Focus Titanium and it was an absolute crock... and the service from the Ford dealerships was frankly laughable.

Best of luck :)

yeah sounds like you were unlucky, not to make you feel back but ive litrially just bought my SEAT after having 3 fords (Fiesta ZetecS, Fiesta ST, Focus ST) and getting that pissed of with thier complete lack of customer service!!!!

Its quite funny actually i just had a voicemail left from someone at ford customer relations in zimbawae saying they recieved my letter and will respond in due time. I'm interested to what they are going to say as it was basically just a rant about how much of a piss poor company they are!

So who DOES have good service?
Lookers Northallerton (Toyota) did have, but then they seem to have sold up and the dealership's gone to RMB, who are a bunch of gimps it seems - and the main reason I bought a leon instead of an auris....well - aside from the fact I just didn't like the auris, but if I HAD liked it, I still wouldn't have bought one from them.

I never seem to get the time of day from VW/Audi dealers - their loss.
Ford are even worse, left me looking round the showroom for about 15 mins before I got bored of asking someone for some time.
Honda were quite accommodating, but I don't like any of their current cars.
David Penman of Darlington seem to have been highly recommended, and they're fairly local - my nearest Seat Dealer if you don't count the one in York, so they got my business.

Seem to have been quite helpful so far, although their sales team didn't seem THAT bothered about getting my money either.

I don't smell (I think) - don't look like a tramp, don't act like a twat.

Why does no one want to sell me cars?

Having said all that - I'd have put the dealership staff in the car and then driven/pushed it off a cliff.

Hope you have a better Ford experience than most people I know have had ;)

Mazda service was always second to none.... they even helped me shaft my ex by buying 'our' car off her and selling it back to me at the same price.... that really p****d her off.....

ive had fords before and never had any problem with the service the best dealer ive encountered was probably minories toyota in sunderland if the car had to be recalled you got a bottle of champagne for the inconvenience!
as for the mondeo against the leon as a car [not the customer service] its miles ahead in terms of build quality and ride/handling and as i said not that much slower but will it be reliable - only time will tell

I bought my Leon from Minories of Sunderland! :)

And yeah I thought the build quality of my Focus was pretty good... til bits of trim started randomly falling off for fun... eg the carpet under the glovebox, the passenger seat plastic shrouding, the inside pull handle of the boot...

I thought the TDCI engine was loud and raucous compared to the TDI, as well as being stunningly easy to stall. And that's not mentioning the random misfires that countless trips to the service department failed to cure.

Be interested to hear how you get on :)
