HPI Check has come back clear, which is reassuring.

Don't want to be the bearer of bad tidings, but my experience of HPI checks is that they aren't always accurate.

My car was stolen, I got it back after about 7 weeks, and thought I would check HPI after everything was cleared up with the insurance company. The HPI report came back with a clean bill of health. About 3 months later I went to put a private registration plate onto the car and was told by the DVLA that I couldn't - because the car was still registered on their system stolen.

I thus politely asked HPI what they thought they had reported upon when they charged me £40. They gave me the standard waffle of 'computer problem' and refused to give me my money back despite various attempts at complaining.

Moral of the story - treat HPI information with caution, or save yourself £40.

luckily, his HPI was free, but interesting story about the HPI.

Human error everywhere I guess, not just everywhere within Labour government

Evening guys ;)

Picked up the Ibiza last night...... initial impressions of it when I arrived were that it was in pretty good nick bodywork wise, apart from the rust on the passengers side rear arch (as per normal) and rust on the passeneger rear corner (where the rear quarter panel joins the rear panel under the lights)

Interior is in really good conidition, apart from 2 crappy 7x10's in the rear parcel shelf !!! Anyone want to swap for an untouched one ?!? ;)

Alloys are curbed, but that doesn't matter as I'll be putting the 16" Teledials on soon ;)

Exhaust has been replaced with a S/S one.... 'Piperflow' was what I was told.... wtf ?!? ;) More like a Powerflow !!! Seemed rather loud on the drive back, and after some inspection this morning I've found out why..... no middle box, just a straight through to a 'small' back box !!! Again, anyone interested ?!? Have found a Scorpion CAT back system I'm interested in !!! :D

Engine wise..... well, it was described as having an intermittant problem, where it would cut-out occasionally when coming to a stop... well..... if you call everytim you come to a stop 'occationally' !!! When you came to a stop, and dipped the clutch, the revs dropped to about 500rpm and then it just died..... which indicated it was unlikely to be the ECU control relay, or the crank position sensor. Throttle body was No. 1 likely suspect.....

Spent an hour this afternoon stripping the air intake system down, removing all the crappy plastic around the airbox, and also cleaning up the throttle body, which was covered in so much 'gunk' it was unbeleivable!! Cleaned it up so you could see bare metal again, and the reassembled everything...... took it for a test-drive round the block..... job done !! :D :D

Well chuffed it was such a quick fix !!! ;)

Will get some pictures up soon.

Going to put VAG-com on it tomorrow and check everything else is ok...

the only other problem I've found so far is that the central locking's screwed up (what a surprise on a Mk2.... ;)...

The drivers side lock mechansim is screwed, as it will only lock the doors, but not unlock! (Got a spare in the shed so will try fitting it at some point ;) )

Tried resync'ing the key, but to no avail.... will try using Em's tomorrow (which I know works) to see if there's a problem with either my key, or the car itself !!!!

Might be just a case of fitting new batteries to my key. It still flashes, but this is not an indication that it still works properly !!! ;)

Nice1 Mr.Jones, glad the "intermittentness" was cured quick.

Now get the poor thing back to a decent state! Sounds like you're not far away ;)

Santa Pod soon? See if the cat-back exhaust is an improvement over a standard :p

Took a run down to MK today to see Mr Smith, and managed to get a healthy 41mpg out of the old girl ;) That was doing an average of 70mph though, as Em's stil very nervous after the accident at Xmas :(

Exhaust is actually quite quiet at 70-80mph, which is good, but is still very loud under acceleration!

Will be fitting the 280mm Mk3 Ibiza brakes this weekend ;) along with a damn good service (oil, plugs, leads etc etc)

MY central locking works but the remote doesnt, if i press the button then the light still flashes but the car doesnt unlock/lock. how do you "resync" it? its been like that since i bought the car and just thought it was screwed but if theres an easy fix that'll be class.
