Juddering under acceleration

A common problem I know but I am trying to work out if this is going to be a quick fix or not. My LCR judders under medium to hard acceleration in any gear from around 2.5-3K rpm. If I drive the car like an old lady it drives fine but it has a slightly rough (jumpy) idle. I had a coilpack go before and it was much worse than this last time, the car ran like a tractor and was not nearly as drivable? There is no light on but when the car starts juddering the light furthest right in the middle did flash on then went off again.

Same happened to me a few weeks back. Mine turned out to be coil packs not seated correctly and a loose spark plug. But I guess thats all that can be expected as they were the ones replaced by the dealers under warranty.

I would suggest you take all the plugs out, check them and make sure the coil packs are re-seated correctly. Then see if the problem goes.

Will do, cheers. I think it has got to be something like that.

Sorted this now. It was a misfire on cylinder 2 which was fixed by, yep, new coil pack.

hey, sorry for dragging up an old thread!
i have a mk3 ibiza cupra and i'm getting the same problem..

i have lumpy idle, but only when changing down gear and coming to a stop.
also its lumpy when accelerating, but okay if driving slowly (still a tiny bit rough though)
just had a coil go on me last week.
only error code on vag-com was to do with my cambelt (getting sorted this weekend)

could the cambelt be causing my issues, even though the error code has been there for months and months?

should i check my coilpacks and spark plugs and make sure they are all seated okay?

oh, btw, it was okay for the first couple of days after getting my coilpack replaced.
i'm confused :(

mate, had exactly the same issues

My lumpy idling was sorted by cleaning the Throttle Body, do a search for it and you'll find the guide....quick and easy job

The juddering is most likely caused by dodgy coil or coils. If you change one you'll usually need to change all, make sure they're all the same and off a quality brand. Spark plugs are apporx £20 for a set so I think it's worth changing them all if you're still unsure

spark plugs have just been replaced at a service last month :) so wont be changing them

i'll check the coils one at a time tonight.

and will try disconnecting the maf and see what difference that makes.

throttle body has already been cleaned, and realigned in vag-com, so hoping its not that either.

will check the alignment tonight though.

i've started a thread in the ibiza mk3 section, and got pretty much the same advice :) thanks
