ive been thinking of winding the actuator out abit on me lcr and just wondered if any 1 else as done this we use to do it back in me rs turbos day any info would be welcome thanks

Why would you want to wind out the actuator?
If you mean wind in to hold more pressure then I'm with you on that one.
You can buy a Forge adjustable actuator and fit a bigger spring to hold more pressure

I haven't yet but if I was going to do it I'd buy the Forge one.
There are other posts on this.
Perhaps in the RS you did wind it out but in the 20VT engined turbos you need to wind it in

The actuator is part of the turbo.
The N75 is the boost controller on the OEM set up. This opens the waste gate to dump exhaust gases to stop the turbo spinning.
With a tighter actuator this holds the waste gate closed till the spring pressure is overcome with the exhaust gas pressure and not the N75.
Therefore making more boost for longer up the rev range

so do you think it would be a good idea then ill mark were it is now then move it but like to no how much to go in any ideas?

Hay bud, it's not a bad idea.
This could help you get more power at no extra cost.
But you won't get much and at the risk of mpotential problems.
Best off just saving up for an engine remap.
Then you'll notice a big difference

Surely though if you increase boost without anything else thats a recipe for a disaster, surely you'd need to get the car mapped to compensate on the fueling map for the extra air volume?

The ecu adjusts fuelling according to the airflow it sees from the MAF, lambda readings etc. The likeliest problem is the car would go into limp mode because boost was outside the maximum deviation expected.

I'm with DPJ on this one, you'll also find your ECU will adapt and the N75 duty cycle will change to bring the pressure back down to what it should be

As per DPJ, the ecu will reuqest a certain amount of boost and any more than a slight deviation will cause limp mode. Obviously there is a small margin for error in the fueling maps but obviously they are written based on a stock engine so won't provide huge amounts of leeway hence why when you up the boost with a chipped the fuelling maps will be re-written for the extra air flow.

IMHO, for the sake of a couple of hundred quid on a chip that you know works, its not worth the risk.
