n249 is a turbo recirc valve. it reduces lag by keeping the turbo spooling.
i wouldnt bypass it on a new car.

Thanks for the reply Chris... Do you think it could be the forge spacer i have on it???

Not holding the boost??? The standaed DV is the new D style one on the old C type..

What you think it could be mate??

The N249 is not a turbo recirc valve its the canister that supplys the vacum to the dumpvalve and causes the dumpvalve to open if it senses any danger [over boosting etc]

It was designed as a safety feature but the earlier engines [golf, A3 engines etc didn't even have the valve]

It definatly wont reduce lag by keeping the turbo spooling but will infact open the dumpvalve and release the pressure.

I apoligise if this is wrong on the mk2 leon but this is what it does on my mk1 leon.

quote;

'Boost pressure is controlled by a Wastegate Bypass Regulator Valve N75. A Turbocharger
Recirculating Valve N249 keeps a portion of air running through the intake side of
the turbocharger when the throttle valve is closed and boost pressure is still present.
This keeps the turbocharger impeller from slowing down, reducing turbo lag when
the throttle is applied again.'

swap back to the standard dv, clear faults, and rr again. see if there are any differences.

Where did you quote that from?

The N249 is just the valve that opens the DV its the DV that recirculates the pressure back into the system and stops the turbo blades from stalling.

The valve cant possibly do this as its only a box that sends the vacum to the DV.

Just trying to help.....this is how I understand it?

Thanks Chris

Forge spacer now off and standard map back on... Visit Seat on Monday let them run a diagnosis and give me the all clear. Then back to superchip in MK and let them start again. I'm not putting the Blow off spacer back on...!!! love the sound but i bet thats down to the power loss..

Which i had taken it off at the rolling road test the other day it would of put my mind at rest now...

this was the case in the olden days (pre 1p leon anyway).

nowadays it is an electric actuator controlled by engine management.

Ram air tubing helps get air up from the foglight grill up to the filter.

Hello Hubblu_bubbly:

What SIZE of flexibel tube did you use here ? If possible, in mm diameter. I have found 'the hole' but cannot find out what goes thru this hole in size ?

Would be nice to make 'the mouth' even bigger.

Hi Leonneke

I used 75-76mm Tube. I had to cut some plastic ducting away inside the foglight grill to fit the tube. A mate of mine fitted a 50mm Tube without having to cut anything. It needs some squishing and folding to get the tube in but once its in it sits tight. Just depends what you want to go with, 75mm tube needs cutting, 50mm tube no cutting needed :)

Cheers

Thanks Hub Bub ... Think that the Dutch versions don't have this plastic ducting ...
I will try to get the biggest as possible through it ... :)

BDM INTAKE results ( as ITG really )

Hello guys;

I am one of the happiest people on earth today. The results of te BDM intake and remap are really incredible. ( Together with the Fuel Pump Upgrade )

If you would like to find out, look in the BDM topic, as they really earn my compliments to. Take a good look at the torque line. There is NO Cupra in Holland with these results, with the same set-up but without the BDM intake .....

Think the BDM and the ITG will give about the same results...

Greetz from Holland. Leonneke.

This will probably be my first followed by a full milltek exhaust with dual cat back and then remap

I'm counting down the days till my little kiwi gets here :D

Thanks for confirming about the hoses I'm pleased about that!
