Issues with recently purchased 18 20vT Sport

I recently bought an 2000 Onvi Yellow 1.8 20v Turbo Leon. Its a great car that's been remapped to 220bhp lowered with a set of jamex springs and uprated grooved and vented brakes and a sweet set of 17in Metalic Anthricite OZ Allows

Its so much fun except for a few small issues.

First, twice over the past few days the air intake pipe from the intercooler , beind the offside front splitter, to the turbo has came off. The ruber part that's attatched to the plastic bit behind the intercooler. While its easy enough to put right again its happen twice now. It appears thats the rubber pipe is collapsing when it gets to hot. and therefor coming of. I have put a new jubilee clip on it but was wondering if this is a common issue or if it is caused be the heat shield needing replaced. It has also been remaped to 220bhp by previous owner so also wondering if the increased power is causing it to distort and if so is it worth looking for an aftermarket replacement i.e. silicon hoses or just get a full new intercooler and pipes.

Second, when starting from hot it doesnt always start straight away, you have to remove key and try again, usually it will start on 3rd or 4th attempt. This is only an issue when the engine is hot, it starts 1st time from cold, also there are no issues when its running, it runs sweetly.

Third is the fuel economy. From a full tank, depending how i drive i get between 180 to a maximum of 250 miles out of it. Other than driving like a granny on sedatives what can I do to try and improve this. Changing filters, plugs or whatever.

Finally it is quite high milage around 105k, is there anything i should be looking out for i.e. gearbox damage, struts, wishbones anything else worth checking tho it does seem to running nice ither than the above problems.

And just as an afterthought what sort of top end should i be getting i cant seem to get any more than 120 out of her.

Any help would be greatly apreciated

Hi there, welcome,
The obvious answer to the hose popping off is a forge FMIC but at £700 ish its not cheap but very well thought of
Who remapped the car and when was it done?
Fuel economy wise you should see 300 miles, are you using 98 ron plus petrol?
Top speed you should see 140 speedo reading, on a private road obviously

As far as I remember the LC has a quoted top speed of 146 I think.......

I know I've seen an indicated 142 (with no engine mods), but not on the Queen's highway you understand......

Dont know who done the remap or when as it was done by previous owner.

The accelarition is brutal way faster than many cars on the road. My mate has a Merc CLK Kompressor and it rips it to shreds of the mark and handeling wise. But it just seems to struggle when it gets to 120.

As for the air intake pipe im considering buying th following set from this web site. what are the thoughts on these

Forge Silicon Turbo Hose Kit 1.8T 150 & 180

Out of interest do you know what engine code it is? I have a 20VT sport which is mapped but not to 220? Are you sure this is right?

Dont know the engine code either. As for the claimed bhp at 220 I aint had this confirmed but the guy was pretty straight up about the car. I have had it up against a 280 bhp LEXUS soarer and it bet that so I assume it aint far of.

If anyone knows where there is a rolling road in central scotland near edinburgh or glasgow I want to get it tested for proper
