Prohibition notice & your car gets towed away......

You can't have wheel poking out. It's an MOT fail therefore cannot be driven on the road

A Corrado down my road got pulled with this and got away with a caution and warned that if he was caught again it will be a more serious matter. However he only had the car about a week and told this to the officer thus I think only a caution was given. I wouldn't risk it.

It is not illegal for wheels to protrude past the arch.
If it protrudes more than 30mm, then it is illegal.
But at the same time all tyre must be under the arch.

Why people stretch tyres, to get a bit of poke, but still be legal (but then some people go mental and stretch to the point of stupidity and ruin it lol)

I have been pulled, spoken to a traffic cop, he then looked up what I said, and then left me to be, as I was legal...wasn't dangerous, nor catching the arch, so nothing they could really do.
Luckily the stretch was tiny (wheel was 8.5J which is 215mm anyway)

I heard that the rims must not poke out further than the widest part of the body .... excluding door mirrors. Also as above that the top of the tyres must stay inside the arch.

Poke is a joke in my opinion. Over at mk4 net its common for the scene guys to stretch bmx tyres onto 12 inch wide porsche wheels running 1000000000mm spacers .... then they wonder why their mk4's dont handle well.

Got nothing to worry about as long as there not poking more than 30mm, and no tread is outside the arch as has been said.. another one of these threads that make people worry for no reason.
