Hi there,

Picked up my new Leon yesterday... the grin will never leave my face! A 2.0 TDI with ipod, 18s + a few other necessities!!

The only thing I can't figure out is my IPOD link. It is one of the Dension ice-links and the lead for it is in the glove compartment.

From reading the manual it requires a CD changer control and im not 100% sure I have one in this car????

Can anyone advise???

Thanks for reading! :D

Is the Ice link installed? If it is the radio will treat the iPod as the CD autochanger source (see manual on how to use this) You should be able to access the first six playlists on the ipod as if they were the six CD's in the autochanger. You will also be able to do a few things like change tracks, volume, pause, auto power on/off of the ipod, shuffle (I think). You can access the non-playlist library on the ipod using the ipod controls.

If it isn't installed then I'm told you just plug it into the CD changer input on the stereo. I've ordered one myself but it hasn't arrived yet. Good luck in removing the stereo if you need to though, I watched the guy who installed my carkit remove it, bit of a knack to it you might say !

Thanks for the reply!

The ice-link was installed by a Seat dealer.

I can only imagine that it wasnt done properly?

Took the majority of the dash off but still couldnt get behind the H/U. So instead of breaking something I think i'll take it back so they can sort!!!!

I just have my fingers crossed that I have the right H/U and you don't have to get a new one!!

I fitted the IceLink into my new Leon. The headunit has 2 slots at the bottom and there are 2 more at the top. You can't see the slots at the top but if you get a very thin piece of metal/plastic and clips at about 2 cm in from each side. It's a bit of a fiddle, but you should be able to do it.
Once the Ice Link is plugged in you need to press the CD button twice to get the Ipod working. The HU will display CDC (CD Changer)
Hope this helps

Hey - Ive also got the IceLink fitted by a dealer in my car, I had a problem with it not changing to the ipod link (CD changer as this is the channel it connects on) - I searched on the Dension website and found the installation guide and found that if the radio won't change to CDC (Is this the problem you are having?) then the black wire might not be grounded. I sent this pdf to the dealer n when i took the car in they fixed it straight away.

Hope that helps...

Has any found that the playlists wont start playin immediately when you press 1 (for example) - I find that when I press 1 the ipod displays a menu with Jon's iPod and Playlist 1 and then i have to scroll and select the playlist (using the radio keys).

Also I was a bit disappointed to find that it doesnt display track names like CDs with CD text (I dont have the mp3 radio - I hope it doesnt work on that cus then I really will be pissed that I missed that on the option list)

Have you got any photos of your installation?

Very keen on moving my icelink into my new Leon, but can't see how it would be mounted at the moment.

I don't have any pictures of the install.

When I installed the Ice Link I fed the cable around the back of the glove Box and in through the top. My Ipod sits in the glove Box and it all works a treat.

Not sure if you have the new Ice Link, but if you are moving from the old Leon you will need to buy the new adaptor for the back of the head unit
Let me know if you need any help

Specifically interested in dash mounting my ipod, but it looks like the current Leon Dashmount is actually a vent mount and I don't like the idea of that, although that would be useful for wire routing. My Icelink is currently installed in a 2005 Renault Megane, so I will need a new control unit anyway.

Thanks for the pointers though.

Can anyone help please?

I have bought the Seat IPOD connector (ICE>Link) and plugged this in to my standard Seat MP3 headunit. When I attach the IPOD it shows that it is connected to the ICE>Link but I cannot get the headunit to cycle through to the CD Changer (where I believe the IPOD should be picked up.) If I use the steering wheel controls to cycle through the sources but it just goes from FM to AM to CD and back to FM. I have tried the suggestion of pressing the CD button twice but that did nothing. Any ideas?

Did you get anywhere with this Ghost?

I've removed my ICE>Link from the last car and now considering the best way to install in the Leon. I can't tell which control unit I need at the moment - have to wait for the shops to open tomorrow.

I took the car back to the garage last week, they could not get it working either and suspect that either the ICE>Link is bust (which I doubt as the IPod is happy and connects as expected) or the actual car stereo is bust. They are ordering in a new ICE>Link to try it again next week.

Sorry to bug you, but I don't suppose you've seen the ICE Link and its gubbins have you?

Just wondered if it plugged straight in the back of the head, or if there was a control box inbetween somewhere?

I fitted my ice>Link last week in about 20 minutes.. 10 minutes to remove the radio plug it and test it.. then 10 to fit it and replace the radio..

Basically what you get is two bits of kit.. a multiplug which goes into the back of your headunit either into the quadlock space or into the mini iso.. this goes to a small interface box.. roughtly the size of a highlighter pen (along those lines) then you have a cable from that going to the ipod. I found that there is more than enough room in the back of the radio for the interface to tuck away with no problems and i routed the cable down the passengers of the centre console and up through the small (unused) plug beside the hazard switch. Also with the side panel off the centre console gave good access to a bolt perfect for an earth. I've got radio removal down to a T (tee, tea?) now.. i've done it enough times.. if any one is struggling I can show pics.

I already have the ICE Link itself and as far as I can tell I don't need an interface box

Although I did have one from the Renault Megane, in fact I still have it.

What's the deal with the earth cable? Didn't notice this anywhere.

Also, if you could post pictures of removing the radio I would appreciate it very much.

Also if you have chance I would like to see your Ipod kit if you don't mind.

Spot on advice... took it in and he was adamant they had done it but i told them to check.

Came back 10 mins later saying "it must have fallen off!"

I take that as Guy 1 - Stealers 0!

Thanks
