Iphone USB connection

Sorry if this has been covered before.
I just tried connecting my iphone 3G to the car using the iphone white cable (into the usb port) and it doesn't work. All I really want it for is to charge the phone not play music.
Do I need a different cable or is it a fault with the car?
I understand that the format might be different and not mp3 so won't play the music, but all I want is to charge my phone.

You need a CUP cable. You can get one from Seat, for something like £40. Or you can get one on ebay for about £10.

Watch out for the cheap ones! I tried a mates last night, works fine in his non seat but in my Leon it just says device not recognised or similar on the dash.

you can get the cradle from accessories plus website with 15% off, then its either 6 quid delivery or they will deliver free to your local stonacre dealership.
