Intermittent starting issue

Now and again, when starting my car in the morning it won't fire up. It only seems to do it one or twice a week. The starter motor turns but it won't start. My usual procedure when starting the car up is key in ignition so the lights come on, dip clutch, wait for lights to go out and then ignition on. However, since this problems come about I've had to apply a bit of throttle before starting which seems to get around the issue. Thing is, I've never needed to do this in the past, ever. Cars approaching the 100k mark.

Anyone know why this is?

Just noticed a similar thread a bit further down where the ecu seems to be the cause. TBH, I don't think it's the same thing as my car does actually start but nervertheless I will check for moisture. I was actually thinking along the lines of fuel pump or injectors or something.

Have you serviced the car recently? Mine occasionally does the same, but usually only a few hours after i've given it some beans.

Yeah the oil was changed about 3 weeks ago. New spark plugs and coilpacks were changed around April.

Funny you say that about giving it some beans though. I'd say mine is the same. If the car is driven hard in the evening, the next morning when starting it is when the problem occurs. It's fine in the morning if driven sedately/normally in the evening.

Identical to mine. Just goto live with it. Mines 108k and runs sweet as a nut.

Always let mine idle for a min while I get my stuff together. Makes no difference tbh.
