The stealers told me that if you've got a MAF sensor problem you can self diagnose i by unplugging it, then if the car runs better (It'll still be slow) its likely to be the MAF. You never know, it might fix itself after youve done that like mine did!

just an update on this issue i've been having :D

Mine started doing that a couple of days ago..........its all down hill from here im afraid!
Have a look in the tdi section, a few people think its the MAF sensor

it got worse :(

it happened again this morning!
I did notice that when i tried to accelerate the was loads of black smoke!
Think i'll call the dealer and order a new MAF, as the symptoms all point to this failing!

this got worse by day! :(
the amount of smoke increased and my MPG decreased by about 10 mpg!!! :(

A MAF is about £100 btw :(

just had a quote from the stealer :(
MAP sensor (part no. 038 906 051 C) - £34.72 :(
MAF sensor (part no. 074 906 461 BX) - £82

ordered a MAF from here Anchor Car Parts for £51.50 delivered.
Fitted it on Thursday night and i'm pleased to say that normality has resumed :D

hope this info helps somebody else in the future :D

Mines been on and off for the past few days, no smoke though. Im going to get it booked in for a diagnostic. How did you manage to fit the MAF? don't you need a special tool to remove it?

its held into the lid of the airbox with 2 posi-drive screws!

the pressure clips holding the hose from the MAF to turbo intake manifold can be moved using pipe grips or mole grips should do it.

15 minute job :D
