Interior Alarm Sensors

I've owned my Cupra for 2.5 years now but there's something which bugs me everytime I take the dog out.
When I want to leave him in the car briefly, I press the button by the rear seat (the red light illuminates), shut the door and lock the car by remote but the alarm still goes off (I have an energetic dog ). I thought this button was supposed to turn off the interior sensor or is there something else I should be doing? I know on the MINI's you simply press the lock button twice on the keyfob.

Thats all i thought you had to do?? Thats what i was told when i bought mine but ive never had to use it.

have you checked out the button? does it illuminate?
