Hi guys,

Apparently my intake manifold flap motor is faulty, and needs replacing, has anyone changed one before? Or is it a pain in the arse to do?

I've been quoted £135.34 + vat for the part, and then £60-90+vat on the fitting.

I'm wondering whether the flap would need to be recalibrating with VAGCOM afterwards?

Any help would be great, thanks!

I'm sure they're vacuum operated on yours mate. Only thing with a motor is the throttle body.

Right at the front near the rad. Also benefits from a calibration to the ecu when fitted.

I've just found it, it's literally slap bang at the front under the manifold, next to the dump valve.. Looks like it has 4 bolts holding it in to the manifold, a sensor, and a hose which connects to the dump valve. That sound right?

Thanks MJ you're a lifesaver when it comes to this stuff! Does it have to be a specific part, as I've heard they don't like different models ie for the calibration..?

What if I don't have VCDS?

You can only do it with diagnostic equipment but you'll find the car runs ok without.

i'd only fit the part quoted from the chassis number, that way its guaranteed to be problem free.

So this would explain why my car ran about 30bhp less than expected on APR V3.4, I had the rolling road done yesterday and it came up at 330bhp and 343lbs of torque which is quite low for stage 2+...

no, that's just because APR over quote their figures. :D
