Instrument Cluster Replacement

Hi, first post I cant seem to see this has been queried before on other posts. Apologies if it has.

Is it possible to replace the instrument cluster myself? - basically the current digital dash display has a portion of dead pixels and it seems to be getting worse with time I've found replacements online but is it possible to do it myself as ive also seen on some forums that some vwag cars they need to be coded in or something possible to do with the key/immobilizer/mileage.

Any help on this greatly appreciated

you can buy new lcd screens if you are prepared to take it apart.

which is not available as a spare part from Seat. You have to buy the LCD screen from the man in the East but be careful, I don't know it off the top of my head for MQB EVO, but removing and unplugging the speedometer can result in various basic settings being lost and having to be redone.

i,m sure removing would be ok if ignition off

Thanks for reply, i have no issue taking it apart ive replaced screens on many phones and ipads including digitisers and stuff. I saw a post where some guy removed his on mk4 for cleaning apparently and when he plugged it back in and turned ignition on it said instrument error but car worked fine, he said he left it over night and then it was okay ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

If something goes wrong, the vehicle is no longer roadworthy. A new one costs around 1000€

unplug it and plug it back in to see what it does before trying to change anything
