Instrument Cluster/Dashboard Swap

Hi guys,
New project coming up on my Ibiza TDI. I'm looking to swap my boring PD100 instrument cluster out for an FR one - has anyone had any experience of a project like this before? I understand that the immobiliser is in the cluster unit itself, so assuming I just do a straight swap-in swap-out it probably won't work?
What tools do I need to do this? Will a VCDS system enable me to reprogram correct immobiliser settings and odometer reading (my odo reading will be going upwards on the new cluster - reads 105 whereas my car has done 119 so no funny business here).
Any help is really appreciated!
Thanks!

I've done this sort of thing several times now,

you'll need to get the SKC / pin code off both the old and the new clocks to be able to code the clocks in. Sometimes you'll find it still won't code in with VCDS due to differences in software versions, but this can be worked around by manually modifying the hex directly.

Also take into account the speedo is calibrated differently on the PD100 and PD130 clocks, but the firmware may take care of this if the speed sensors are sending the same signal back .

Fantastic - thank you so much for that information.
If the speedo is showing the wrong speed - what course of action would you follow? Can this be sorted out? I remember reading somewhere that there is a multiplier that can be changed to adjust the reading on the speedo?

Thanks again.

Correct, the distance impulse multiplier can be change under the instrument cluster settings, but I'm unsure if there's more to it than that, either way I'm sure it can be sorted.
