Inlet Manifold Runner Control fault

Just before Christmas my MIL light came on :( .... I plugged in my OBDeleven and checked what the fault codes were. Here they are:-

P200400 - Intake Manifold Runner Control Bank 1 Stuck Open Intermittent
P201500 - Intake Manifold Runner Position Sensor/Switch Circuit Range/Performance Intermittent
P201400 - Intake Manifold Runner Position Sensor/Switch Circuit Intermittent

So I cleared the codes, started the engine and rescanned, no faults were found.

However the next day the light came back, same faults. The car seems to run fine, I’ve not noticed any drop in power or rough running.

I see that P2015 is a common issue with the 2.0TSi engine, however the solution seems to be one of three alternatives...
  1. 1. Replace entire inlet manifold £600ish
  2. 2. Replace the actuator £120ish
  3. 3. Remove inlet manifold and install a small machined block of aluminium to restrict the movement of the actuator to be with the correct limits £10ish

My concern is which one is correct for the three faults I have? Does the fact I have the P2004 and P2014 faults as well as P2015 point to a specific issue that will only be fixed with an entire manifold replacement?

The car is a 2014 Cupra 280, CJXA engine and the mileage is 55k.

Thanks, Ian.

The first thing to do, if possible, check and clean any connectors in the system. One of the most common faults with sensors etc, is dirty/corroded contacts. Use contact cleaner for electronics.
Learning this saved me having to buy a $1200 BCM for a Hyundai we once had.
