In car wifi / CarPlay

Hi all.

There was an update on the system on Friday, and since then when connected to Apple CarPlay, it also uses the in car wifi for data connection rather than my phones 5G. So this results in being unable to use maps etc as I don't pay for the in car data plan.

This used to work completely fine before the update. CarPlay would connect wirelessly, and would use phone data, but no longer! It's rendered CarPlay completely useless as I don't want to pay for the data plan.

Has anyone else come across this problem or know how to get round it? I've tried turning off different data options in the system settings but then CarPlay doesn't connect at all.

I've also given up using the in car sat nav because every time I get in the car, it's forgotten my home/ work address and all other settings.

I love this car, but the system does my head in.. There's a new problem every day and every update! 😅

Hi, you have a very old (more than two years) software on your infotainment, that has a lot of bugs. The latest is 1969, so update first and then check if the problem is still there.

Ah great, thanks for that info. I’ve not long had the car so previous owners must not have updated it.
There’s nothing showing in the updates screen, is this a manual or garage job?

The update can be made either by yourself ( if you have some minimal tech abilities) or at the dealer - but if you don’t have warranty anymore it can be a pretty high cost. Major updates don’t arrive OTA (over-the-air) if you have such old firmware as you do.The thing is that you cannot jump from 17xx directly to 19xx, you have to make the update consecutively ( if I remember correctly 1803 is in between). To do it yourself, you cand find all the informations step by step on this forum, or google.
