Hi,
Yesterday I updated to iOS 17.7 and after that Carplay doesn’t respond as before. The phone connects wireless as it should but I can’t switch from Waze to another app in Carplay. It doesn’t react to me pressing anything beside Waze navigation on the screen. I can start Spotify from the phone and it will play songs as expected. Today I installed iOS 18, but that didn’t help. The infotainment works beside this. I can switch to radio screen, car settings and everything else. It just doesn’t respond to changing app in the Carplay screen.
”Hey Siri” works, so I can switch apps that way but it’s not my preferred solution.
Anyone have or had the same issue?

remove the car from your phone car play settings and setup CarPlay again.
I did that but no change.
If Waze is active and I close it on the phone then Carplay will open the main screen where all Carplay apps are visible. I can press and select any of them, but I can’t switch to another app unless I ask Siri to do it or (as above) I close the app on the mobile to get to the main screen of Carplay again. There’s nothing happening if I press the three latest apps displayed on the left side of the infotainment screen, see image with Waze, Spotify, and calendar on the left side, or the icon below to the Carplay main screen.
Am I the only one with this issue?
Had an OTA update and updated to ios 17.7 (now ios 18) just prior to this happening.

Still no resolution.
I’m now on iOS 18.2 which helped some users having the same problem as me, but no change in my case.
I’m starting to suspect that, no idea why though, something happened at some point and that the area where the Carplay side bar is displayed on the infotainment screen is a non-responsive area of the screen. Either by design or as a screen fault.
I’ve not been able to find any other non-Carplay icons/settings that you can press where the CarPlay side bar is displayed, so I can’t draw conclusions.
If it was possible to switch the Carplay side bar to the right hand side I could test that, but I can’t find such an option.
There are no connection issues at all, it’s just that the Carplay sidebar doesn’t response when I press it.
Anyone with an idea?
