Immobiliser issue?

I think you can disable the immobiliser through K+CAN Commander
I used K+CAN to get my SKC to add another key and seem to remember seeing something about disabling the immobiliser

Something worth trying is to disconnect the battery and remove the ECU to inspect for corrosion/water ingress.

Yea, i've read alot on these forums about people using K+CAN with varying degrees of success. If I have the SKC it opens a lot more options for me. If somehow the key is no longer coded to the car i hope to be able to re-code it.

PS, removing the ecu and opening it up was the first thing i did. Although coddoded on the outside, the inside was fine.

The best advice to get K+CAN to work is to boot the laptop with the cable already plugged in the usb and get the latest FTDI drivers. That seemed to let it work for me. If you have problems getting it to work let me know.
I got the SKC first attemp when the software was working. I then used vagcom to add the new key to the immobiliser. Vagcom wouldn't let me login using the SKC and I tracked it down to the car battery being below 12.5V. Once I'd figured that out, coding the new key took literally 2 mins.

Am I right in thinking you can code keys with K+CAN? I've also heard of something called VWTool.

You can apparently use both but I'd rather use vagcom/vcds. I used k+can purely to get the skc because I had problems getting it to work, I don't trust it to make any changes to the car. VCDS has proven to be a reliable interface so any changes I make are done that way.

That's just my opinion

http://ajames.pulsewidth.org.uk/leon/extract_secret_key_code.html

Followed these instructions, get a message at the bottom saying "cannot connect to device turn off and on the ignition and try again". Sent the ecu to the ECU Doctor, said there was water ingress and did a load of work on the unit. Tried again, still won't start, still can't connect to device? Any last ideas before I take this perfectly working car (- the immobiliser) to the scrappy never to get another SEAT again? :p

Good luck mate. I'm fed up with spending money on this piece of junk, especially when I'm probably migrating in september. I think it's time to cut my losses! I probs won't touch a VAG car again.... Might go japanese....... or even french!

Can you communicate ok using vagcom? I think I had a similar problem when I was getting my SKC which was down to the dodgy chinese software. If you click on 'Identification' on the main K+Can Commander software what does it do?

with vag com i get{ engine controll module not found!}
