ok peeps....when i started the car this evening the rev counter needle kept going up and down at idle?

from about 800rpm to 850rpm, up and down continuously until i reved it gently and it settled at its usual 800.

car seems fine otherwise...

ideas?

could either be MAF, or coil packs failiure lurking.

I find if i do a throttle body reset, it settles down on mine, MAF etc is fine on mine btw.

Leave keys in ignition for a few mins and listen for a high pitched squeal from the engine as it performs it, then try starting :)

as per flashbsd above - happens all the time in my car. MAF has been replaced, numberous tb resets and cleans. Still does it.

Better petrol and a tb reset cure it for a while.

flash you get this too? i spose the answer is let it develop . would coil pack issue light up the dash? had no error lights so far. think im right in saying maf will only throw a fault when its almost dead.

coil packs where changed on this car about 3 years ago by previous owner. do they last long?
