hi all, in a newbie

I bought a 1.7 sdi s arosa 6 weeks ago. Im not going to do alot to it, just lower it 40 mm and fit a new set of alloys. Whats the perfect size of wheel to fit without having to adapt the arches or anything.

Cheers

I know for sure that a 1998 1.0 Arosa can take a set of 15" wheels with a tyre size of 195/45 15.

I have been told  that the Arosa can take 16" wheels with tyre sizes of 195/45 16 which will be a bit more expensive due to the tyre sizes.

The first ones a definate the second one I can't 100% confirm "yet" ;)

On my car I did have a drop of 40mm which had no issues at all with any tyre rub with the 15's, but I upgraded my spring kit which altered the drop to 25mm

No prbs, that what this site is for :)

If you are going to lower a car more than 30mm you are always advised to fit uprated shock absorbers as the standard ones don't do drops over 30mm very well, by all means you can fit them just don't expect your shocks to last as long as they were originally intended.

The wee Arosa does look really good with a 40mm drop and if you can go this low then do it :D

Also depends on what look you're going for - the euro boys drop the car on its arse and fit 13s

I like mine with 15s personally - it dropped on coilovers so not sure on the exact height difference, but they fill the arches nicely without having any rubbing issues :)

I have 15's on mine and just lowered with shocks and springs to get used to it at 1st. May decide on coilovers at some point but, am happy enough at the moment. Depending on what wheels you get going to 17's can look ok. I have found that with the 195/45/15 tyres and wheels I do feel all the little lumps in the road but, I love it - feels like a go kart !!

17's are overwheeled for the little arosa, and will catch once lowered... they'd ruin it for track too.... 15's for handling everytime, 16's for looks - but don't go too wide

Hi all, my arosa is lowered 60 mil and I've managed to squeeze 15's on to it, but I went through the original 195/50/15's in no time because it scraped, even though we did a little bit of arch work. I've now put 45's on the front, and even with the two front seats filled it doesn't scrape any more.
I'd definitely invest in shocks if lowering, as you will find that the car bounces ludicrously if you don't change them, and this will upset your corner handling and make you sad:cry:. I've got a Weitec kit on mine and it's still a reasonably comfortable ride but the handling is out of this world. Total go-kart, woooo!
