lol. just deleted that. but yea itll just be a standard headphone socket, just it depends what is between that and the cdchanger connection, thats why i deleted it. it could be an ipod only 'box' for instance, which could be why you can scroll through the track listings via the stereo

That was my question - could the ice>link be used for any other MP3 player...I have a Creative Zen 30GB...cheaper and more reliable than an iPod....just not as classy looking ... :(

Still 30GB of songs thru the Altea CD player...not to be sniffed at!

Hmm, the installation wasn't as straightforward as perhaps it should have been.

The dude installed the ice>link plus yesterday, tested it and nothing happened. Well, nothing that it should have done anyway.

Connect the iPod in the cradle and all that happens is a big tick appears on the iPod screen with "ok to disconnect". The head unit displays "CD1 TR99" which is what it should do, but no music plays. You can hear the clicking of the iPod wheel, but that's all.

Called a place called Progressive who are the main distributor of Dension kit, and the chap (very helpful) suggested either a faulty cradle or some damage occured to the wiring during installation.

I'm now playing company tennis with the various parties involved - blame being passed from one to the other.

Seeing the guy remove the head unit, I can't beleive how easy it came out, at least someone else is to blame for it not working rather than an amateur like me getting something wrong.

Currently awaiting calls from each of the companies to try and resolve the issue - either a replacement or re-installation.

Watch this space!

For the love of chuff!!!

I now have 2 Ice>link units, had 2 installations, and still it doesn't work!!

Does anyone know how to remove the Aura head unit, I need to get at the latest installation to read the chuffin version number on the back of the unit.

What a frikkin headache! Shan't bore you with the details just yet. Do I need special tools to remove the head unit?

OK, I've now lost my patience.

Does anyone know on here how to make a formal complaint about a company? [:@]

Ordered a product on the 19th June, 1st delivery/install faulty. Replacement ordered (at my cost), second unit arrived - wrong item sent by factory. I've ended up having to remove the item myself. Still awaiting second replacement and I am nearly £250 out of pocket.

The company I originally ordered from are not necessarily at fault, but I need to get something done.:censored: :censored:

Any pointers anyone has would be gratefully recieved.

do you need the display on the head unit to show whats playing or you happy to use the ipod?

If you are ok using the ipod to change tracks etc then you can use an FM transmitter.
PC world now sell a gadget you can plug your ipod into for about £29 that basically allows you to listen to it via the radio.
Think you can set it to about 4 different frequences.

or: ofr £17.99

I have an iTrip, but you lose out on sound quality - when you get a signal of course! I appreciate that the newer ones probably have a better signal, but still.

Thanks for the suggestion though.

I actually do want to play the iPod rather than use the head unit display.

Given that this whole episode has left a bad taste in my mouth regarding Dension, what would you recommend? I've only a limited budget and even more limited knowledge/skills.

All I want is: Use the iPod to control the stereo (still make use of playlists etc), and something that's easy to install and doesn't make holes in my dash.

Any suggestions?
