hi i have a 99 seat ibiza 1.4 8v and i have just bought a l reg golf vr6(dizzy) smashed up for the conversion, i have stripped the golf of everything i need but i am just a little conserned over the wiring side of things? so far i have separated the engine bay loom into 2 the aux water pump and lighting side and the engine wiring from the ecu? i was hoping to keep the lighting loom from the ibiza and wire the rest of the vr6 stuff in? is this possible or is it too much messin about? also can i keep the ibiza fuse box or do i have to swap it for the vr6 one,any other advice on making this a bit easier to get my head around would be greatly appriciated, thanks dave

you can wire in your VR6 loom to the car's existing fuse box, but just determine what wires are the ones for the engine & not the lighting loom

Was easy to do when I did my engine swap, but I fell at the final hurdle when I forgot to retrieve the immo box from the old car.

Gave up & bought a megasquirt ECU instead

far less hassle really as it'll be a lot tidier than running two looms (but it's just a bit more work)

I tried that too - using the base car immo rewiring it into the ECU, but none of the combinations worked (was only 4 or 5 wires, most of which went to ground)

Didn't bother me really as the MS was always on the cards, it's just delayed it starting my months

on the early vr6 then how was the immo turned off? i got told it was the later engine that used a chipped key? is this correct?

o thank god for that, thought i would be up sht creek for a while there, what about the immo on the ibiza? is it into the ecu or on a separate immo box?
