Ibiza SC 1.4 Chill or 1.2 TDI ecomotive

has anyone bought one yet?
my mrs has been looking at one and been umming and arring over it for a month or so....
she finaly decided to buy one today after her car broke down doing 70mph in the inside lane of the motorway, trust a vauxhall to break down.....
anyways i digress...

does anyone on here have a chill, or a 1.4 petrol? what are they like to drive, and whats the economy like?

Also what about the ecomotive? Anyone got one? And is it actualy possible to achive 80mpg?

My mum has a 1.4 Sport and it's great. 40mpg is easily achievable, its got a slick gearbox and a comfy ride. altough still stiff enough to feel sporty. You might want to have a look at the 1.2 TSI also.

I wrote off my 6 month old 1.4 GoodStuff last month (woman hit me from behind) and have just managed to get my insurance to order me a 1.4 Chill to replace it as they don't make the GoodStuff anymore! It's basically the same car but with better alloy wheels. I can't wait as it was a fantastic car, I was getting 39.9 MPG on average and that’s putting my foot down at every opportunity so you could get much more if you wanted.

They just better give me the damn folding wing mirrors this time and integrated blue tooth as they tricked me last time. So a word of advice when you pick your car up from the dealer...when you sit down to sign documents that state it has everything you expected it to have, tell them you want to actually sit in the car first, by yourself, and go round the cabin checking everything so you can refuse it if it's missing something or get them to write you a cheque!

I have a 2010 1.4 Eco, not quite as economical a the new 1.2 though.

Ive managed 87mpg on an average of about 200 miles (only had the car 2 weeks and covered approx 800 miles) but also seen as low as 52mpg on some journeys, its horses for courses IMO, on my average tank i worked it out to about 65mpg.

People say they are only really good on the motorways, but i feel that doing a constant 70mph doesnt return anymore than 65 - 70 mpg and you can tell when you start to go up even a slight incline.

I find the car is perfect for 50-60mph driving on a mix of A and B roads, which in turn returns the best mpg.

All in all, im happy with the car and if driven gently with no stop start traffic, im sure it could return manufacturers figures.

I Had an Eco one for a Loan car. Did 150 miles in it and it was saying 75MPG when I dropped it off.

One thing I woud say is you dont go anyware quick......

well from an boc to an eco its gunna feel like ur not goin anyware lol
see... she mainly she needs it for work cus she travles, probably between 60-70miles a day

think is id be worried about the DPF on them, cus alot of the driving is street to street. that said its like a 15mile commute to work and then 15miles back everyday
so should that be enough to clear the DPF dispite the street to street driving?

i used to have a 1.9tdi fr mk4 and if i drove that like a granny i could get 70mpg.
im trying to see what would be the best option for her
since she gets £0.20 a mile it idealy needs to be somthing she can drive 75miles for under £14..... does sound easy i know but again alot of it is street to street driving so will use a ton of fuel

Update,
after working it out it wasnt really feasable to buy ether a chill or an ecomotive
chill sounds ok. but since shes going to be doing roughly 18000+ a year the payments would me nigh on same as what i pay for an FR plus the fuel cost on top......

ecomotive sounds good but again the cost of it, because she wouldnt be able to get it VAT free, the payments again would be almost same and then theres the DPF problem because its all street to street driving......

so anyways kept it in the family today shes bought a 08 plate MK4 3dr 1.9tdi SportRider in emocion red
30k on clock payed £6000 for it really nice car... reminded me of my FR.
took it for a quick test drive myself and got 55mpg right away!

so hopefully pick it up friday for her

I've got the 1.4 petrol, it'll happily do 50ish mpg on a long run on a motorway 65-70mph, but normal driving your looking anywhere between 40 and 45, lots of town driving and it'll slip to low 30's, and put your put down and cruise at 75-80+ and 41-42 is tops.

Get the diesel, i wish i had a diesel - not the Seat, but just a diesel in general.

Where abouts in south yorkshire are you from?

I missed out on a red sportrider 1.4 by 5 minutes as someone else put a deposit down, bought a zenith grey one the next day though with less miles.
