The only real reason you would get an FR over a Cupra is cost to buy. Cupra is better or same as FR in pretty much everything except slightly crashier ride and marginally worse MPG. You can quite easily match performance of standard Cupra with a mildly modded FR, but if you were to mod the Cupra you would out do the FR obviously. I've got an FR and love it but wish I had a Cupra as it would be a better starting block, but suppose getting a car like an FR when your 19 is still good!
If you don't mind me asking David, how much a 19 year old will pay for insurance for a FR TDI as my son is on the lookout for one, I have the mk1 Leon FR and my insurance comp would't let me add him to drive my car ?

I don't remeber exactly but think it was about £1200 for my own fully comp policy with 1 year NCB, Direct Line btw. I'm 21 now and with all mods declared its around about £900 or so

Just to carry on with the insurance costs ive just renewed mine on the FR. Now rem i am 42 with donkeys years of no claims but for me and my partner as a named driver i ve just paid £235
When i was getting quotes for a Cupra back in 08 it was around the £400 mark, not sure on the Cupra's group but its quite a step up.
For me it would be cheaper to mod my FR to 160 bhp.
