The ducting I used was 80mm diameter PVC ducting it was obtained from a Pearsons Hydraulics Ltd in Lincoln but I dont' know the cost. It cost me nothing as it was just left over at work.
I had a quick look in the RS catalogue today and they do various types of ducting. They also do one which is near identical to Greens ducting:

ive been thinking of doing this for a while and was wonderin if it really does much for the performance or does it just create more noise?is it best to use a plastic or metal pipe?
