The code should be on a sticker in the boot under the carpet - thats where the engine code and other factory info is listed too.

GUC 6sp / build 03/04 -->> / 1.9 / 118kw / 160bhp / 4cyl

seems to be the only one i can see listed and your part number comes up as a transmission casing for

GUC 160bhp
HDS 131bhp
FSM 131bhp

i'd check the stamping on it or at least the spec sticker to be sure

Yea I have that guc code which is the casing code,but when I was giving it to quaife they did not recognise it and said it should b 02 something, I was having a look through etka and I think it is the 02M gearbox,its the only one that seems most likely...thanks for the reply tho!

GUC is the gearbox code itself not casing code

02M is the gearbox type

Some man,thank you for clearing that up!

just to note as its a TDI and you hadn't mentioned it but the diff ratio is 65/22/27 as it's a dual shaft box

just to note they knew it was TDI cos of the longer gearing etc

TDi's use a different setup on diff ratio's normally because of the nature of the engine compared to a petrol

get it wrong or out by a few numbers either way and you could end up with a completely different style of driving that might not be what you wanted

The diff doesnt come with a crown wheel normally you re use your orginal so if your not changing any gears all the ratios etc will stay the same.
