ibiza cupra revving itself after gear change

hi all i am fairly new to the site and have only had my ibiza cupra a few days, and it has developed a problem, sometimes when driving and i rev to about 4k and change gear as soon as i dip the clutch the engine revs itself by another 1.5k to say 5.5k it does this at any rpm or gear!

any help or advice as to what this could be!

pretty sure theres a switch to kill the throttle on DBW models , have u had it on vagcom , any codes ???

I had this EXACT same problem mate, if you follow the clutch pedal up under the dash you'll see a small white plunger switch touching it. When you put the clutch pedal down the plunger is released then upon rasing the clutch pedal the plunger should be engaged.

The little bugger is only held in by plastic threads so it may well have been pushed back or fallen out completely. Either that or its just knackerd.

If i were you i'd go and see if:

A) the switch is there
B) that theres a wire plugged in to it
C) that the threads arnt stripped

If the above seems ok then get a new switch from the dealer.

dont forget its also fly by wire throttle and if its a new car to you it can take some getting used to

i always seem to do it with swapping from ibiza to leon to toledo

Mine does this, but not 1.5K extra, I assumed it might be my clutch slipping... will check it out....

That looks cool & great but I am just wondering on how were you able to manage to have that particular setup?

I recently had a lot of messing around with this daft white plug thing after my clutch snapped. the plastic threads were stripped on it and it meant that my pedal height was all over the place. I went with a jubilee clip and some zip ties to fix it up. that worked a treat.
