Well as my title say's I am getting close to ordering my new little car to replace my buss pass I kid you not traded in a FL 118d for a bus pass!!! 2 years on done my green bit mow want a nice town car to compliment the Leon FR. Will order March for Sept 2011 delivery. Good to get thoughts and opnions even if they are slightly biased :D

Have a budget of £200 a month and maybe up to £1000 deposit.

Audi A1 - 1.2TSi SE not driven yet is nice and well made will max out my budget. Good engine on paper though.

Polo 1.4 Sel - 3dr Very well made if a little unexciting.

Ibiza 1.4 Good Stuff? - Awesome spec but like 1.2 TSi sport as well. See what offers are on not driven an Ibiza SC but does look sharp any ideas suggestions from those the know.

DS3/C3 - Last option is much better made now and well equipped. Can have a 1.6VTi exclusive with leather well within my budget. DS3 white edition has excellent residuals and I do like the looks.

Has to be in white as I could not have the Leon in white with black wheels as the wife said it look too manly :banned: Keep you updated on test drives ect.

The NA1.4's aren't that great on fuel and the 1.2TSi is probably nippier too so that would be your best bet.
If your on a budget I wouldn't bother paying the premium for the Audi or the Polo, they are nicer cars with nicer interiors but the ibiza (and fabia) have the same chassis so will handle pretty much the same and are still very worthy cars.

The DS3 has had some great reviews but I can't comment on quality or engines. C3's not a fan of TBH.

At this moment i'm living at Vigo (spain), in this city there is a factory of PSA group and you can see a few DS3 at street, the car is sexy and well equiped, compared to the rest of the list I would go for the french.

cheers

I would be suprised if you could get any of those above models for 1K in and £200 a month.

Audi A1 everytime though, for me personally other Ibiza's lower down the chain just dont cut the mustard. I would take the low spec A1 any day.

Polo you get around a 1.6K discount C3 around 4K and even SEAT are still offering VAT reduction on some models including the Chill which replaces the "Good Stuff". All come within budget.

No discount on the Audi either yet and would guess I would need a 48 month PCP to come within budget.

Ibiza 1.2TSi I'd suggest. The 1.4 16v is crap in every way.

Audi & Polo will have a premium associated

DS3 seems pricey, but easily discounted I should imagine

I am swaying towards 1.2TSi Sport DS3 only has small discounts of about £700 compared to C3 with 3-4k!!

Saw an A1 on the road today, not a nice looking car imho. DS3 would be a good contender, polo just too expensive as you'll pay for the badge. Seat = 1.2tsi will give you all the benefits of a small engine with a little punch to go too. As said, DS3 may be your best compromise although for me, I am not a fan of the french motor and yes, the DS3 aint been round too long to know what issues it may have. Maybe find a ds3 forum and get some feed back.

Compared the Ibiza and A1 head to head today, although they are both the same car undeneath using the PQ25 platform the A1 is by far the better of the two. The interior is significantly better, feels really well put together and high quality, easily the best of any sub-£20k car... and this was the base 1.2 TFSi SE I was in! Looks smarter on the outside too, but that's a matter of opinion. Although the Ibiza is cheaper to buy outright, I don't think its any cheaper to lease than the A1 due to the resale values.

I got my first Ibiza 1.4 SE with 1.2k deposit for £160 a month on PCP :)
Decent equipment, and they had just come out so no 'real' discount to be had, but as said, the 1.2TSI will be the better bet over the 1.4, it's an old engine, taken out of an old car. 1.2TSI all the way :)

my mate has just got a new ds3 1.6 tdi and its pretty neat to be fair, pulls well, looks good.. the only thing i dont like about them is the dash is really small and didn't like the finish.

also he just cracked the screen, and autoglass quoted him £600 for a new one (dont know how true this is, he tends to lie alot!)

I've just bought a 5dr Ibiza 'Chill'. Got it with zero vat! Trading in my 57 plate leon 1.9tdi stylance. I was in the market for a Citroen DS3 and had a test drive in one. It is nice to drive but I have a 3 year old and it was cramped in the back for her in her seat. Also, she couldn't see out of the window due to the 'shark fin' b pillar. It would be nice car for someone with no small kids. Tried 3dr SC ibiza but again, trying to manipulate the wee one through the front door is not good, hence the 5dr. As for the Polo and the A1, i'm afraid its a bit of badge snobbery. They're too expensive for what amounts to the same car as the ibiza or fabia. For example, my ibiza cost 10800 outright on the road. Similar spec Polo on VW's configurator was just shy of 16k!! and the audi is dearer still. So my verdict, if I didn't have the wee one or she was a bit bigger and didn't need the seat, I would have an ibiza SC. Will make do with the 5dr for now...
