Ibiza 2.0 TDi FR with Remap - What are they like?

Hi All,

Thinking about either a Leon FR Tdi 170 or Ibiza FR 2.0 Tdi. Obviously I can get a newer Ibiza for the same money. Just wondered how the Ibiza drove with a Remap.

Most tuners seem to quote around the 185bhp mark, what's it like to drive with that sort of power?

Test Drove a Standard one (with only 16" Wheels) today and it seemed fairly light on the steering with little feedback, is that any different on 17's?

Any feedback appreciated.

Thanks

the leon drives better
it puts the power down nicer ie no torque steer and feels less affected by extra power
the ibiza seems more like driving a roller skate and struggles to feel planted

Thanks for the info.

That's what I suspected. May edge more towards a Leon or BMW 120D.

My Ibiza was mapped, great fun car that surprised a few drivers of 'faster' cars. Steering is light but does stiffen slightly at speed, it can produce a fair amount of torque steer but not a major issue.
I'm now driving a 120d and as you would expect, it's totally different. Won't go into details as I'll get flamed for driving a beamer

lol.. Please go into details as think the Ibiza is a little too basic so am now considering a 120D!!

It's not really a fair comparison as the cars are at opposite ends of the scale. The Ibiza is a 17k (when I got mine) car, and the BMW is approx 30k (I also have the 8 speed auto).

You get what you pay for and it shows in the build quality. The interior is soo much better, power delivery is better and the car feels much more planted (until it snows :drive1: ).

I had great fun in the Ibiza but tbh, wouldn't have another unless my circumstances changed. But you have to drive both and compare, everyone has their own preferences ;)

This ^^^

The Ibiza struggles with wheel spin and torque steer when mapped but with the extra weight in the leon it seems to really help out. I'm on about the Cr leon not the PD.

I have a DTUK box on my ibixa and it pulls very well. The torque steer can be a slight issue in the wet but nothing you cant handle. My only gripe with my ibiza so far if the crashy suspension. I have had cars that are lowered which were more comfortable to drive
