Ibiza 1.6 Sport Computer

I looked and drove an Ibiza Sport (1.6) today and am looking to put pen to paper today. (another small step towards a cupra).

When the sales men started the car stationary the onboard computer read perfectly... all figures and displays were shown clearly. However when i took it out for a drive i notice that some of the figures on the LCD display had gone like the lcd had broken. only the fan speed bars and half of the numbers at the top were visable.

It was like a calculator that needed the screen pushing in to read it.

Is this a major problem ? or are we talking a loose wire

they are known to fail, you will find a few on ebay now and again.

some of the more clued up people will probably have a better answer!

cheers mate.. they sound expensive to replace. I notice that someone had remove the panel to fit a hands free kit and as it worked initially i thought it was minor damage....

or hoped it was just a case of pushing a connector in
