Hey guys, i need a bit of help diagnosing a problem i have with my Leon Mk1 1.6 16V.

So to start of, i got the car used of a dealership. Every thing seemed to be in working order. Rust was absent both in the engine-bay as well as the wheel well and panels. I went out for a test ride, the steering was solid, the brakes were in working order and the engine ran smoothly.

After a couple of weeks I encountered a problem, during a low-gear and throttle situation (roundabout with a small hill) the engine hesitated and the rev-counter dropped to 0 igniting an oil warning (3-beeps and flashing light). The car didn't´t die, it felt like the car got to little fuel from the injectors. I was close to home, so I kept going carefully. I checked all the fluids, they were optimal. So i suspected it might be a censor. So i ordered one online from a manufacturer.

While waiting i started up the engine to check the oil-light, but it was gone and replaced with a check engine light. The rev-counter was back in order and the car idled as normal. I took it out for a drive and it drove like it had before. A week went by and I encountered the same problem as stated before. This escalated up until the point were i changed the censor.

I´ve encountered the problem a few times after changing the censor (3-4months since it was changed). So i wonder if it is something with the injectors themselves or maybe the second censor?
Could it be that the airflow is limited (unlikely since it idles well).
But yet again the way that the way that the rev-counter disengages seems to be an electrical problem, could it therefore be a electrical ground problem?

I brought my car to the dealership i got it from and they didn't´t seem to experienced with this issue. So i wondered if any of you guys could have some input.

Thank you for reading through my thread. I am new, so if this thread is misplaced please let me know a better suited location for the thread. Please do state your theories!

As above mate, get the fault code reader first as that will save you a fortune in parts you may not need.

The oil pressure warning light would have came on because the revs dropped so low, so the oil pressure would have dropped too. That will be unrelated to the fault and is nothing to worry about.
