I am a DIPSTICK!!! (thanks minx)

I have had my leon fr 14 months now and last nite I was reading through the manaul and came to look at the page about the dipstick. From reading it I have realised I have been putting to much oil in. I have been filling up about 1 cm past the top indentation because there is a small faint line there which i alwasy thought was where u had to fill it to. Could this be bad for car.

Over filling oil in a VAG PD engine i was always told was proberly the worst thing to do..... says in the manual too, that it should in no circumstance be overfilled!

I would take it to a Seat Dealership or a VAG specialist for a look over mate... oil in turbo? Oil in intercooler? I dare to think where it could go if it over fills?
I would get it down to a specialist quick for a check up....

No faint line on mine....

I would still get it checked out if it been overfilled, even to let the vag specialist empty the oil and refill with new oil to the right level...

But maybe thats just me!?

CAT damage I thought was the most likely result from overfilling with oil.

Doesn't it say on the top of the oil filler cap? Does in my R.

I think the overfill should come out the breather first - i wouldn't worry too much. I'd expect the min and max to be conservative anyway. Unless you've REALLY overfilled it of course....

From what i've seen, the dealers often send them back with too much oil in. Presumably because they don't take their time draining it properly, or topping it off carefully. Just sump plug out, 4.xx litres in.

All sorted now guys. I went to my local garage instead of seat dealer. He said I shudnt be to worried but he drained some of the oil anyway and checked everything was ok. No problems with turbo etc. Thanks for all your help people.

So no higher than the indentation then???

Bottom is minimum and top is max.
