Found this site a while ago and have been looking over it for the last few weeks as l'm thinking about getting a Mk 3 Cupra as my next car...

Firstly, have to say this is a pretty sweet website you got here

But now down to a few questions that you guys/girls might help me out with...

What's the consumption like?
What's the standard stereo like? As l see they come with this massive built in tape thing? Can it be removed?

Am thinking about getting a red one and just doing a few slight mods, like lowering it on 17" oz superleggeras. I've read that alot you are fitting 15/20mm spacers to the back? Are these definitly needed or just preference.....??

Sorry about the essay on my first post.
But any help you can give me is much appreciated...

Cheers in advance [B)]

Your more than likely to find the answer to your questions using the search button up above. Just don't reply to old threads ;)

My car has an average of around 25mpg at motorway cruising speed 70 - 80 i get around 32mpg.

Stereo is fine for me, Radio 1. The climate control, trip computer, etc is built into the standard stereo so you can't remove it. Lots of people have fitted headunits in other places around the car. In the boot, under the steering wheel and recently in the roof lining.

I think the spacers improve handling and make the wheels sit better in the arches.

Hope this answers your initial questions, if you need anything else try a quick search first :)

Cheers Tim.

Not bad MPG then, considering the engine. Suppose it all comes down to the right foot pressure at the end of the day ;)
Like you say, the stereo don't really bother me either, just wondered really.

I'll have a search around for pics and that about the wheel spacers...
Hopefully find a few red ones on superleggeras.

Welcome mate, people fit spacers because it widens the rear track, so that its in line with the front wheels, but it helps the handleing an awful lot, and really is worth it. Plus the car looks alot better with them, as the wheels fill the arches nicely.

i got told that the back end is form a polo or something lie that. so the track is 30mm shorter. so a 15mm spacer each side brings it out level with the front....

Welcome to SCN ;)

Ok referring to your first question, i know it doesnt really help but it depends how you drive it! I normally get about 250 miles to the tank but if i drive it hard i dont get that

The normal stereo is great, speakers are good as well, there is loads of people that have done things to their stereos, i know people that have put it under the steering wheel and in the vents above the normal stereo, its up to you what you do really, for me that sort of thing is something i want to keep like it is (used to want to put a head unit in though when i had my first cupra)

Have a look at this linky as it came up quite recently

I think you would be making a VERY good move getting a cupra, i have had two now and they are fantastic cars

No as far as i know it was an 'optional extra' as was the red inserts to the seats on some of the black cupras

I have had two cupras (one i have now) and both have had CD Changers and red inserts though
